I am traveling with my DD who just turned 1 and my niece who is 4. I have never been to Disney with kids before. My questions are:

1) My DD eats "grown up food" and still eats Gerber Gradutes and baby fruits. Should I take them, and if so, where can I heat up the can of Gerber Gratuates? Do the restaruants put them in the microwave for you? Or do I have to go back to the Baby Center?

2) Where can I get milk on property? Is there a little store or something at Disney Village to buy a quart of milk? I plan on getting a refridgerator in my room so DD can have milk when she first wakes up and for her bedtime bottle.

3) I am bringing my own stroller for DD. Should I label it with my hotel name in case it gets lost and someone is nice enough to return it?

4) My niece likes to walk ahead of us (which drives me crazy :furious:). What happens if she gets lost? Is there something we put on her to identify her, something that we can put our cell phone number on?

Well, that is all I can think of right now...we leave in 6 days!!!!!! :cool1:  :yay: :Pinkbounc Can you tell I am excited????? :rotfl2:

Gerber make a thing that you put hot water in and that will heat up the food for you. I got one at Walmart 3 years ago when ds was little so I do not know what it was called and I gave mine a way.

there is stores off site (Walmart, Gas stations, ect.....)

I did when we went in 05' but thank god we never lost it.

sorry I alway make my son stay with us like hold on to the stroller or mine or daddy's hand.

I think you should take some, definitely. About heating up, I don't know if the restaraunts will heat it up because of health and sanitary reasons.

I don't know about Disney Village. I know the resort I'm staying at (Shades of Green) has a store. You should be able to find some milk, I'm willing to bet.

3) I am bringing my own stroller for DD. Should I label it with my hotel name in case it gets lost and someone is nice enough to return it?

I'd lable it, sure. There are so many strollers that I think the biggest concern is indetifying yours for when you come out of a ride/attraction. Try tieing a bright colored bandana to it, or get a balloon for the girls each day and tie it to the stroller.

4) My niece likes to walk ahead of us (which drives me crazy :furious. What happens if she gets lost? Is there something we put on her to identify her, something that we can put our cell phone number on?

Maybe you can make some sort of neclace for her with a laminated piece of thick paper with the essential information it threaded on it (use a hole puncher). Another thing you can do it put a "Hello my name is:" tag on her each day and write her name and phone number on it. Good luck! And have fun!!

Cannot help with this one, as DD is 8 and never ate baby food, sorry. I am sure that the Baby Centers can help you. I really don't know if restaurants could.

2) Where can I get milk on property? Is there a little store or something at Disney Village to buy a quart of milk? I plan on getting a refridgerator in my room so DD can have milk when she first wakes up and for her bedtime bottle.

All resorts have either a food court or a food area in their gift shop where you can purchase milk and other basics. No need to go to Downtown Disney or off property.

3) I am bringing my own stroller for DD. Should I label it with my hotel name in case it gets lost and someone is nice enough to return it?

I would put your cellphone number on it. It certainly can't hurt to put the resort as well. We traveled with our own stroller for years and never lost it, but you can't be too careful.

Wow, that is something I just would not allow. Either hold hands or in the stroller. WDW is too easy a place for a kid to get lost. It only takes a second.

Well, that is all I can think of right now...we leave in 6 days!!!!!!

Have a fantastic trip--we'll be there at the same time!

The restaurant will not heat them up. You said she ate adult food. Would she eat something off your plate or perhaps a kids meal. I am lucky as my DS (2 1/2) likes his vegetables room temperature, right out of the can. He will also east the Dole canned fruit - the 100% juice ones) out of the can. Those are very soft, so you might try both of those before you leave.

2) Where can I get milk on property? Is there a little store or something at Disney Village to buy a quart of milk? I plan on getting a refridgerator in my room so DD can have milk when she first wakes up and for her bedtime bottle.

If you are staying onsite, most ofthe hotel gift shops and counter service restaurants have milk.

Probably no a bad idea, but not really necessary. There are a few strollers that are stolen, but that's rare. It would be hard for you to lose a stroller. Just a warning, the stollers are sometimes moved by CM when parked outside a ride. If you get off a ride and it is gone, ask the CM where it would have been moved to.
A great idea it to tie something bright and identifiable to it so no one mistakes it for theirs and so that you can spot it easily in a sea of strollers.

YES - Go to a large pet store, if you have on near you. I go to PetSmart. You can engrave pet tages there. I get a round one and engrave it with DS"s name, my cell number and his birthday (so no one can claim him who doesn't know him). I just loop it through his shoelaces. He also likes to walk and can go a whole day in a park without ever riding. The rule is he has to hold the stroller or someone's hand. But let's face it, he's 2 1/2 and in Disney - the land of distractions. He has been known to break free. One adult is always assigned the job of never losing sight of him if he does get loose. If he runs away, the rule is he must ride for 15 minutes before being given the opportunity to walk again. We use the same rule when shopping at home.

Well, that is all I can think of right now...we leave in 6 days!!!!!! :cool1:  :yay: :Pinkbounc Can you tell I am excited????? :rotfl2:

We check in next Sunday, so we'll probably pass each other in a crowd!

All of these questions have been coverd well. I would like to add to 4--I have not used this, but have seen posts about them. Wal-Mart and other places sell animal backpacks that have aharness on them and like a leash attached (bad phrase I know) They can wither wear the backpack as that or they can have the leash attached. They sell for about 10 bucks.

I have a DS 4 and DD 15 mos. We were just at WDW.

1 & 2. DD has been eating and prefers real food. I found that she could share off our plates. At buffets she eats for free anyways. Most of the time she eats of her brothers plate as he doesnt eat much. I did bring some cereal and snacks from home so she had something during the day. As for milk, we just got it in the restaurants and hotel counter service (she can use a straw). We stayed at CR and had a fridge in our room (though not very cold).

3. I put some hidden labels & luggage tag on our stroller to id it (include cell and address). For me to easily pick it out, I also pinned a bright color bandana with our last name ironed on it to the sunshade. There were several strollers like mine and I could spot it quickly. Park you stroller in designated areas. Dont be surprised if you come back and cant find it. CMs do and will move them to make the area less congested. Thats why making your stroller stand out is so helpful. Some people use balloons, but theyre not allowed in Animal Kingdom. Remove all valuables when leaving your stroller. I leave jackets and diaper stuff in it with no problems. Ive even left merchandise without problems, but still not a good idea.

4. Added tip-if using a digital camera, take a picture of your kids each morning. You now have a current photo of them in the clothes they are wearing should YOU get lost! Both my kids wear stainless steel id bracelets all the time (even at home). It has their first name on the outside, and on the back it has their full name, dob, home, my name and cell, hubbys name and cell. Most people notice the bracelets and ask about it, adding what a great idea (several CMs at WDW stopped to ask about them too). Thankfully we havent had to use them yet. Search the board for other options.....dog tags, pet tags (can get both engraved asap at Walmart, Petsmart), shoe tags, use a sharpie and write your cell on their arm. ****Be aware that CMs cant search through kids clothes (ie pockets, inside shirts) for id. I also instructed DS not to leave the park, yell if someone grabbed him, and to look for CMs (pointed them out each day in the parks/store) or other mommies with kids if we got separated. Several times he wandered off.
Me being paranoid and obnoxious just started yelling his name-he wasnt far. Really be careful in large crowds like after shows, parades.

Have a great time and be flexible. Dont overdo it or you will have two miserable kids on your hands. Our kids were troopers and loved every minute.

I was a wanderer like your niece and when I was about 5 I got lost in WDW. I think the pet tag is a definate. The man who helped me find my parents put me on top of a garbage can so I could look around and call them. They found me pretty fast. I was lucky. I didn't wander very much at Disney after that.

4) My niece likes to walk ahead of us (which drives me crazy :furious. What happens if she gets lost? Is there something we put on her to identify her, something that we can put our cell phone number on?

When we went my dad found these little tag-card-things on us that were two sided, had our name, dad's cell number, resort we stayed in, our age, weight, height, ect. on it. When we got to the resort we got a free pin trading starter set that included two (I think) pins and a lanyard. We attached the name tags to our lanyards and wore those to the parks. They had all our information on them incase we got lost, and included a lanyard to put our pins on. I don't remember where he got the tags at, so maybe just the idea can help.

when we stayed at POP ..we asked for a refrigerator for insulin and after 2 days it still wasn't cold enough to keep anything ...we ended up using a cooler and alot of ice....

Ya'll are going to have such fun!!!! I remember watching the fireworks through the eyes of my youngest. Truly magical. Dh and I both had tears in our eyes, and it is a memory I will always cherish.

Anyway, I really can't answer your first 2 questions since we waited till our kids were older to go to WDW.

3. One of the best things we did was to put a balloon on our stoller. We could easily identify it after rides and shows -- even if the CMs moved it. Also, if I went chasing after our oldest, I could still see where Dh was with the stroller because of the balloon.

4. The pet ID tags are a great idea. Another simple idea is to take masking tape and write "mom's cell # 555-555-5555" (putting your # in of course) and tape it to the inside of her shirt or shoe. Tell her if she gets lost to just flip the hem up, take off shoe, etc, so someone can call you. Also, start now training her to stay with the adults. (Of course, you need mom to help with this, but it is so important.) Another thing I did with my girls (and still do with my 4yo) is play a little "game" with them. When we're out, I will suddenly stop and ask, "What would you do right now if you mommy got lost?" I actually make them point to a person they would ask for help and tell me why they picked that person. I would let them know they made a great choice or show them who might be a better person to ask and why. We also have a code word. We have told them not to leave with someone (even someone they know) just because they say "your mommy and/or daddy told me to come get you." If we need to do that, we will tell them the code word and they can tell it to you.
Of course, I'm sure all will be fine and you won't need to make use of any of this. Just thought I'd throw it out there.
