We stayed 3 nights at RP last week. Although we enjoyed the change of pace from the Disney parks, the service was terrible. Maybe we just had a string of bad luck. Anyways, here is my story.
We arrived on July 6th and the room was not ready until early evening. There was a huge wet spot on the floor by the bed that we kept stepping in. We were on floor 2 and I noticed pet walk signs so was concerned that the floor had received a pet accident. The front desk assured me that it wasn't a pet room and that they would take care of it. They asked to come right away and I explained that the kids were asleep, so it was to be taken care of in the morning. Came back to our room the next night, it wasn't taken care of. We moved to a room on the 6th floor. I appreciate that they took care of it, although I hated having to move. Also, we paid for an extra adult and each day we had to request towels for the extra person. We were told that is their policy. That makes no sense to me as they knew we had an extra person! Also, there were candy wrappers on the floor and it was never vacuumed.
I had made dining reservations in advance (I had expressed my struggles about speaking to a live person on this board). Well, I changed them by one day and was told that they had no record of my prior reservation so I couldn't have used it anyways. Well, on a whim at Confisco's I asked if they could tell me if they had their reservation list from the prior day. I was told that we were on and we be charged for not showing up!!!! In addition, my daughter has celiac disease so we had requested a gluten free meal. They insisted that she get her food from the buffet! We had to argue with the chef that this was not acceptable and also they did not have any gluten free bread of pancakes like we expected.
I approached a pizza window in the park to find out if they offer gluten free pizza. The response I received was "we don't have gluten size, only personal size!"
Due to the issues with the room, we were given a buffet breakfast at RP. They substituted the buffet for eggs and bacon for my daughter and she brought her own rice donut. They gave her 1 piece of bacon!!!
We were the only people on the shuttle bus one morning and the bus driver told my kids who were sitting in a nasty voice, "you are not going to stand up are you? If so, I will stop this bus!"
Also, we attempted to take the shuttle back at park close. There were tons of charter buses for Metlife hanging aroung but no Universal buses. Those of us waiting got angrier and angrier. Then 3 shuttles came by to pick of employees, with only one getting on each bus. We complain to the guy monitoring the buses. A bus finally came. It stopped at the back of the line and those of us that had been waiting could not get on. I told the employee that he needed to get us on the bus (we had 2 sleeping kids in our arms and had been the first one at the bus stop). The employee told the bus driver the situation and she explained that they only have 18 seats (for 50+ people). She asked for volunteers to get off. A teenage girl got off. That left 3 seats we were told the kids could not sit in our lap. Another family that had been there almost as long as us, had only been able to get half of their family on the bus. No one else would get off of move so that 3 seats could be together so that one of the adults in our group could hold up the sleeping kids. We have the 3 seats up to the other family. Finally, the bus monitoring guy called someone who brought a van to pick us up. The only comment made to us was "sorry for the trouble." I learned my lesson. Next time we would walk back.
Now for the positive stuff.
The kids loved Spiderman, we road it about 6 times. Hubby and I liked the Hulk and Dueling Dragons. I thought I was going to die on Dr Doom as my extra seat belt back up would not buckle!!!! We liked MIB, Cat in The Hat, Shrek, Jimmy Neuton, Popeye and everyones favorite was the Flying Unicorn! We enjoyed our meal at Hard Rock (who took care of gluten free needs). We had planned on buying AP's at Disney, bugt there was no way we were going to wait for over an hour for some attractions after having no wait at Universal! Everyone is ready to go back even though we had so many issues. We decided that when we want a summer vacation in a theme park we will go to Universal again. I hope that when I write my complaints, that they will be heard.
Thanks for listening!
