We (family of 5) are headed out West and will be at DL June 14 - 17. It's our first trip to DL and I've been looking at restaurants and menus of possible places to eat. We don't have any ADRs yet and I'm wondering if they are necessary. When we go to WDW; we have a plan and know where we're going each day - but DL is all new to us and we don't have a plan in mind. Do we need to call ahead and plan out our days and restaurant choices or just hope for the best while we're there? We staying at the DL hotel and will likely not venture too far from the parks and resort.

For any sit-down places or character meals, I'd recommend them. If you want the Princess meal at Ariel's Grotto, they're really needed. Same with Goofy's Kitchen (especially on weekends). Most of DL is counter service, so obviously, they're not needed for those.

Figure out where you really want to eat (i.e. character meals, Blue Bayou, etc.) then make your PSs. I like to do one a day; more than one means that you'll be on a fairly stringent schedule centered on your mealtimes. :goodvibes
