The River Belle Terrace looks like a beautiful spot to eat.
Good for you on kicking your husband boo-tay on Buzz. I never can manage to do that.
I am so glad you were able to get your vouchers replaced & get a dream too. What good luck after bad luck!!!!
Can't wait to hear about the Electric Light Parade......I haven't seen it in years & am very excited about getting to see it again in Dec.

Awesome update Karen!!! I was so excited to make my way over here and see it, I haven't been doing a whole lot of DISing lately and so it was awesome to see your update. Sorry about the bad experience but glad it all worked out in the end. I love the River Bell Terrace too, it is so awesome. I had the Mickey Mouse pancake too and loved it, I also took a picture of mine too, there was a lady sitting up ahead of me a table up and see looked at me crazy too, but I didn't mind. I wanted to look up and say its a Disney thing, you wouldn't understand, but I didn't. Can't wait to read and see more, as always, wonderful.

Very Nice update with lots of great pics....The Mickey Pancakes really made my mouth water....I love pancakes cooked nice and crunchy around the edges ....they looked puuurfect...lol Sorry you lost the vouchers but Yay on getting replacements, fast passes and A DT dream...did they give you Mickey Ears or did you buy them???

Thank you so much!! Oooh those Mickey Mouse pancakes were SO GOOD!!! You'll have to try the River Belle Terrace when you go! It's a wonderful place! No we didn't buy the ears...they gave them to us!!! It was a wonderful surprise!

The Mickey pancake looked really cute. I would have had a hard time eating it too! Have you ever watched Steel Magnolias? They have a red velvet armadillo cake in it. That's what I always think of when I eat food shaped like animals!

I'm so sorry you had to go through the drama of losing the passes. Miguel seemed very nice. You just have to love those cast members! But it really was an example of how things happen for a reason!

So you got gold beads from the jazz band! And it was much more innocent than what has to be done to get them back in your home state!

YES those are LINES!!! Was it ever CRAZY!!! lol! Have I ever seen Steel Magnolias? Most definitely!!!! The movie was taped in a town about 2 hours away....we go there every Christmas to see the lights! That's a nice comparison....an armadillo cake and food shaped like animals!! Love it!! I agree....and I think that Miguel went above and beyond for us...he was so nice!! Yes the gold bead came from the jazz band! Jason and I were joking around and said, "Throw me somethin mister!" but of course, it was all in innocent fun! I'd never do what some of those crazies do in New Orleans!!

It was really good except that you couldn't really see Aladdin and Jasmine on the flying carpet above us. I wish we would have been futher back or maybe even higher up so we could see them. All I saw when I looked up was the bottom of the flying carpet. It was still a FANTASTIC show, though! I loved it!! The genie was HILARIOUS!! He kept referencing modern day things like Myspace and YouTube!!! It had Jason and I cracking up!

Thanks so much!! The River Belle Terrace was a wonderful place...so beautiful!! The first two times Jason and I ever played Buzz, I beat him. From then on, he KICKED my butt. Now, I know the secrets!!! The Electric light parade was JUST as I remembered it. Jason said, "I like Spectromagic better" and I told him to just be quiet. The EEP is a CLASSIC!!! I remember it as a KID! It was great....you guys are going to enjoy it!

I'm leaving for Kids Camp (counselor) Sunday morning and I'll be gone for a week. I figured another update was needed before I leave! I have all the pictures resized and everything....I'll fix it as soon as I get home! For now, I'm off to Hallmark for their Ornament Premier (I collect their Disney Ornaments...well really any Hallmark ornament but mostly the Disney ones) then to a Friends Bridal Shower!

I know...it's JULY and I'm crazy for buying Christmas ornaments but what can I say?

Thursday, April 10, 2008 - Continued - Now over to DCA!

We decided to walk over to DCA for lunch. We wanted to eat Hot Dogs and so we decided to cross the next place off of our list: Award Wieners!!

I thought it was a cute little outdoor sit down restaurant!

I just had the basic chili-cheese dog. I think Jason had the same only his had relish on it.

Be careful! It's messy!!

Next was over to Paradise Pier. Jason wanted to ride the Ferris Wheel on the moving side so we did. It was fun...only thrilling when you would move. It kind of freaked me out, though!

We had some great views!

Jason called that guy the "Spinning Orange of Death" because every time it would start up, the people would start to scream. I couldn't muster up enough guts to ride. lol!

I miss you too.....*sigh*

We walked around PP a little more then went over to see Golden Dreams with Whoopi Goldberg. I liked it a lot! It gave a really neat history of California.

Jason decided that he wanted to draw another character since he had so much fun with it the previous time so we walked over to the Animation area!

We had a little wait before the next class so we walked around the Sorcerer's Workshop again.

This time, Jason decided to see which Disney Character he is!

He got Captain Hook!

I took the test again and when it game up to the question of: Do you like to eat nice people for dinner or have nice people over for dinner, Jason chose "Eat nice people for Dinner" and so I ended up with her! Hah!

We found out that the character for this class was Donald! Was Jason EVER thrilled!!! lol!

Mine never turn out looking right!! Oh well! I needed to fix the bottom of his bill.

As we walked out, we saw the Pixar Play Parade going on, so we stepped into the crowd to watch!

The floats were cute, but I'm glad we weren't very close because I didn't want to get all wet!

By this time, we decided to head back to the hotel to change. We had PS on this night at Steakhouse 55 in the Disneyland Hotel.

We walked up and I was surprised to see the elegance of it all!

The waiting area had lots of plush seating. It was super nice!

We didn't wait long for a table at all! We were led inside this dimly lit room filled with tables. I loved the atmosphere here! ALL over the walls were photographs blown up in black and white of old-time Hollywood movie stars!! One that I really remember was of Lucille Ball and Walt together! Too cool!!

We ordered the Prix Fix which was a salad, Fillet Mignon, and dessert....all for like 30 something dollars! Pretty darn cheap when you look at ordering it all separate!

The salad and bread were good

and OMG...this was the BEST steak I have EVER tasted! Wow...it was so good. I've never had a steak that good before in my life! I'm not a huge steak eater but this was WONDERFUL!! I definitely recommend this place to anyone!

Jason ordered a side of Mushrooms. I'm not big on mushrooms so I didn't try them.

While we were eating, we couldn't help but overhear the conversation going on at the table next to us. They were discussing "Disney Trivia" but it was more like Disney trivia that no one knows. Kind of cool......if you looked close at the pictures of the Hollywood stars in the restaurant, you would notice that there were NO cigarettes in ANY of the pictures even though many of the stars had their fingers positioned as if there were a cigarette there at one point. Disney had the cigarettes air brushed out of the photos!!

Inside, we weren't paying attention to the time. I had it in the plans to try and see the fireworks tonight since they were cancelled the night before. It was WAY later than I thought it was and realized that we wouldn't get a decent spot again tonight because of the time.

And I was right. So we gave up and decided to go get in line for Nemo since I had heard that the lines were shorter during fireworks.

We still waited a whole dang hour for this ride

But I thought it was cute and well worth it!

By the time we got out of Nemo, the park was closed and it was time to go night night! Goodbye Disneyland for another day!!

Up next: More Disney!! Wooohooo!!! lol!

That Sun Wheel on the moving cars totally freaks me out. I am never scared on rides but I rode this when I went with my family back in 2001 & I was scared to death when that thing would swing. I call it the Wheel of Death...but my husband says I have to ride it in December & I am so NOT looking forward to it. I just want to trick him somehow & get on the stationary cars because the view is great & I don't feel like I am going to die.

That Pixar Parade looks so cute. Can't wait to see that.

I have that outfit that you wore to Steakhouse 55. Got it before our cruise last year. I am so excited to read that you went here & that the food was so good. I really want to go here because I had seen on another trip report all the cool old pictures of Walt. I think I have decided based on your report to do dinner here instead of Napa Rose.

The "Spinning Orange of Death" looks pretty freaky - as does that other ride in the pic above it (giant swing?). I had no idea those were at DCA. The only ride I've ever really thought about there was CS.

Your food pics look really yummy! I'm a big fan of chili cheese dogs - healthy, I know! And Steakhouse 55 looks really good too! You're right, 30 something dollars for that is a really good deal, especially on Disney property!

Thanks for all the great pictures...cool that they edited out the cigs..I quit smoking about 25 years ago. after smoking while in the military (it was the only way we got a breack so to go outside and get some sunshine.)
