Day 2- 28 Sep 06 DCA

This is the day to meet the rest of the playgroup. This is also the day I lost my voice. We are first to arrive and the kids are chomping at the bit to go in. So I let them pretend to eat the giant candy corn.

Everyone arrives and we head to The Backlot and on the way ran into Cruella. She was awesome. Then Mr and Mrs Incredible came too.

Let the kids play at the fake wall that made them look like giants. All the Moms rode on the Cali Screaming and yes we were screaming. The little ones went on the carousel and had to buy a mickey ice cream to get the boy to stop screaming to get back on. Rode on Orange zinger with the kids. I did not like it. Felt like the car was going to fall. LOL!! A couple of the Moms went on the Tower of Terror. Not me, I am a chicken and will always be a chicken. Made it to Soaring!!! OMG That was so great!!! There was hardly anyone there and we were in the middle and it is a good thing I took a dramamine that day too. My son just loved it. I wanted to take him again but everyone wanted to head to Bugs Life area. One family had their stroller lose a wheel so they headed home. the rest of us went to play in the water. I forgot to mention it was hot and humid!!! The water felt good and the kids got soaked. LOL!! The other families headed home to avoid traffic (like that could ever be avoided)LOL!! Freedom again. We headed to the Grizzly Trail. It was fun to crimb and run and slide. I could not talk the girl into going on the raft ride. One problem of being the only parent. We went into Bugs Life 3D and the boy was not impress with the smell. The girl did not like the feeling of being stung. Back to the carousel, then Lightening McQueen and Mater came. Back to see Brother Bear and Kenai and play some more. Found a place to sit for a drink and snack (bought our own in) Perfect spot to watch the Block Party Bash. The dancer was able to draw my son into dancing with her and he and DD had a great time. When the balls came flying out she got a few for a couple little kids that didn't get any. Why do parents think their kids have to get as many balls as possible that they don't think of other kids around them? We headed our to the hotel and order in some Panda chinese food. Yummy and the kids was out by 830p and I was out by 930p

Day 3 - Last day 29 Sep 06- Disneyland
Can you say crowded and hot!!!!!! Today is the first day for Haunted Mansion and all the Halloween decorations are up. It was beautiful to see.

My voice is sounding horrible!! We got up early and ate in-room. We almost made it at opening but got a phone call from friends from Tucson that decided to come at the last minute. We will meet up with them later. Today is the day for autographs and did we get alot. All the princesses except for Aurora. Everytime we saw her she was going on break or something else. Once when she saw us she was with Cinderella and Alice and they stopped to say say hello to DD and talked with DS and they rememebered his name and that he was autistic and to not touch him first. I was moved to tears. We couldn't get autographs from Aurora because then all the other kids would want one. darn. We did Astro Orbitors again and Buzz astro blasters 2 more times. Went to Frontierland but DS just wanted to go back to Orbitor. Did the Jungle cruise and got the map this time. I told a couple other families with handicap children to ask for it too. Got our $3.00 French Fries LOL!! Actually DS wanted to do the ordering but I didn't know that so he cried and cried and of course, we got those looks people give when they see a child crying like that. Beign Autistic he gets something in his head and it is the only way to do something and you can not talk to him. So I finally figured out why he was crying and took the Fries back to the cart told the CM the problem and walked away and then back with DS and he ordered and got his Fries. She even stuff a whole bunch more in. Everyone was so understanding there. Finally everyone else caught up with us and we went back to Toon town. Did POTC and at first DS didn't want to do it because the other kids with us did it before and started saying that it dropped down the water. UGH!! He got on and hid is eyes for a bit and then he liked it. DD also clung to me too since we were in the front. We did the Innoventions and everyone split up during that. Got to talk to Stitch. The Boy thought that was awesome and tried to call him back on my cell phone. LOL! BAck to the Orbitor
Too bad they don't give out frequent flight hours. LOL!! Blasters line was just too long. We escape to eat at Tony Roma's only 2 tables had people.

Went back in and it was even more crowded. We could never get into the Haunted mansion. Thank goodness I got pics earlier in the day. No one else wanted to go in when we had the chance in the morning. Fantasyland was next and the kids rode on the Mr. Toads ride but mine did not want to do the teacups (thankgoodness) or the Pinocchio's ride.(didn't like the idea of going into a whale) The other families left except for my friends from Tucson so the kids and I did "Honey I shrunk the Audience". We got a lot of press pennies but didn't find my year "1962".

The crowd was getting worst and we ended up in front of the castle and couldn't move. There was an announcement that the park would stay open till 11p tonight and they are going to show Fantasmic twice. So for 30 minutes we sat and DS fell asleep and I put him in the Stroller. I figured he would wake up when the fireworks started.

That firework's show was the best I have ever seen in my life. The sky just lit up. Poor Tinkerbell had to have been freezing. There was no way I could be able to convince DD to stay and try to work our way to see Fantasmic. DS slept all the way thru the fireworks. He woke up when we was being pushed trying to get out to the exits. I wanted to yell that we we're all going the same way and you don't need to rush and push each other. I was really wishing I was back in Hawaii at that moment. We made it out safely and got back to the hotel and they fell asleep in their snacks. I packed up and rechecked my route to drive home. We made it home in 7 hours and the cat barely acknowledged us when we walked in the door. I have spent the past week fighting whatever sickness I caught out there and got my voice back last Friday. This week I have the sneezes and yucky nose but so far the kids have been alright and the boy have been asking to go to Mickey's house everyday.

We missed seeing so much stuff because of being with such a large crowd of friends and they all wanting to do their favs. I plan to take DH next time and see what we missed. DisneyWorld is also in our future.

My favorite memory of the trip is that the CM's went out of their way to help and to recognized that DS was different and they talked to him when ever he got overwhelmed by something ( usually someone walking over him or pushing) We got Honorary Citizen Stickers (We don't know what they mean) but since DS hates stickers he lost his somewhere) and I wish we knew about the 1st timers buttons, that would've been awesome. Thanks to all that help with your ideas and knowledge. !!

I have never understood this mentality in people, if everyone is headed in the same direction why do you need to push and shove and cut in front of others. We usually just find a seat and wait a while it’s less stressful.

What a great trip! I loved reading how the CMs were with your DS, that's so incredible that they can remember names and not to touch him right away. We were there for some of the same days you were, and one day a CM said there had been 45,000 people in the park the previous day. How on earth could they remember one little boy? But the did. LOVE IT!

And 1962 is your year? Are you kidding me??? It was a year for greatness ( :teeth: ) but I must say you wear it much better than I do. :sunny:

What a beautiful report. Sounds like you had some "pixie dust" spread on your son. How special! I hope you will be able to go soon with your husband and children, and just spend some great time "smelling the roses". By the way, I think it's neat how you have met friends on the internet, who share your same lifestyle. Which brings me to my next comment...I appreciate your husbands service to our country. Please thank him for me!!! :tinker:

I too was amazed!!! Each time we met a princess character they took the time to talk to him and was patient when he at first didn't respond because it takes him a while, but they did. Maybe it was that he first introduce himself by saying "I am Sean" and the lines was short. He has some kind of effect on people he meets, they are drawn to him.

Thank you so much for the compliment. Yep Sep 1962 was a year of greatness!!! :goodvibes
