1st Trip (of many!) as Mr. & Mrs.--the TR-- UPDATE 9/9: Life Update--We're Moving!!

I'm so glad you had such a fun last day at DHS! I have never seen those hand and feet section or the umbrella. I am definitely on the look out for those in October. Stacy, I am sooo sad that your TR is over. I got so excited everytime I would see and update. And since we were there the same week it would make me remember what we did those days as well. If you start a website or blog please let me know! that is crazy you almost missed your flight. How scary! I travel a lot for work and that is my biggest fear that I will miss my flight. Can't wait to hear about your park favorites.

I'd love to go on a vacation with you and your DH so that Weird and I could get PP pictures every time you guys do! Haha, we came home with about 20, and that was it! Good thing we didn't order it. We knew we'd end up taking more pics with our own cameras, so we didn't pre-order. But we got PP pics taken just in case there was any good ones. There was only one that we liked! But of course, the pickings are slim when there are only 20 from which to choose!

Ooo, I don't think I looked up when we were under the hat! I have to tell myself to look up more often. Weird took pics and when I saw them I'd go, "Oh, I didn't notice that!" and he said, "You don't look up often, do you." Haha. I was initially going to title my TR "Looking Up!" before we left because I wanted to remind myself to look up at details, but I actually often forgot to do that!

Yummy to that frozen raspberry lemonade! If we had known it'd be hot and whatnot, we should've gotten that instead! We had to stop and get a Sprite from the vending machine for over $2!!! Might as well have gotten a special frozen drink to enjoy!

The LMA photos are actually super fun to look at now that I've actually seen the show myself! Weird LOVED it, and it surprised me by ending up as my FAVORITE DHS show that day!

YAY for the payback Mickey shot! Haha, you should print those two and frame it with a 3rd of just the 2 of you together.

Thank God you didn't miss your flight!!!

Awww, does it really have to be over???

Haha--you'd probably get SICK of PP Pics if you were with us! :rotfl: We took way too many. But we wanted to get our money's worth. It was probably good you and Weird didn't get the CD, because you had your family to take your picture for you. We didn't have anyone to take it of just us, so it was either take PP pics, ask strangers to take ours, or hold it out for a face shot.

I think that taking a photography class in college helped me with that. We had to get on chairs or lay on the ground or all kinds of weird stuff so that we could try to find the "perfect shot"... So now I look up and down and all kinds of stuff more often. And I think that being in Disney makes me want to take in EVERY detail! It's a good thing you had Weird to take "up" pics for you!

You need to get one of the frozen raspberry lemonades next time! It was one of my favorite drinks/snacks of our entire trip. :thumbsup2 Don't you hate how vending machines are so over-priced?!

Oh yay! I'm so glad yall ended up liking LMA! It was Michael's favorite show at DHS too. He's not a big car person, so it kinda surprised me, but I ended up loving it too!! We'll definitely make a point to see it every time from now on. And I told my parents they have to see it next month when they go. It was YOUR favorite?? That's SOO neat! I'm glad you both loved it! :thumbsup2

Good idea! We definitely need to get both of those shots framed. Hilarious. I know--I don't want it to be over at all! Thanks so much for reading, though!

I am sooo sad to see your trip report end, but I loved reading it!!! I def want to stay at AKL now!!

Thanks so much for reading!! I'm sad that it's ending too. You HAVE TO try to stay at AKL sometime!!! It is just incredible. We can't say enough good about it.

I totally agree with you about the RNRC theming-- I think its pre-show is Disney's best! Love how you're clutching hubby's arm on TOT, too:rotfl:
This was a wonderful TR-- loved reading and am so sad it's almost done!

The pre-show seems so real. They do a great job! And I'm pretty sure Disney is the only place in the world where the theming is as good as the ride. haha--I didn't even realize I was clutching his arm! I'm a clutcher though. I almost took my aunt's arm off in Dinosaur when I was 15. And my college roomie and I used to watch scary movies and when we'd finish, our arms would be red from clutching each others' arms so much! Thank you SOO much for reading! I'm sad it's almost over too.

Aww bummer that your TR is coming to an end. I have definitely enjoyed getting to know you guys through the report. I think I am leaning more towards writing a TR, but I don't think it will be anywhere near as extensive as yours. I know we definitely didn't take as many pics. Most of our trip was spent waiting in lines for characters!

It is funny how you think of so many other people on the boards while you are there. I definitely thought of you guys when we were at AKL and Boma and during the PP photoshoot! ;)

Again, you have some great photos in that update. I'll let you know if I write a TR so you can add it to your list of dis reading. I have a lot to catch up on myself!

Thank you so much for reading along, Ann! It's been so much fun sharing our vacation with all of you. You should definitely write a TR!! I'm sure it'll be great. And it's so much fun to relive your vacation after it's over. I'm just a nut for pictures. My family/friends have given me such a hard time about it my whole life. Haha--that's what we did when my sister was little. I'm glad we didn't have to wait for any characters this year!

:) I'm glad you thought about us at AKL!! We love that place so much. Thank you! Yes, please let me know! I'm going to be playing catch-up all summer. :upsidedow

Great update! I love all the "magic" shots you got, and your drawing of Minnie turned out fantastic!

Thanks, Denise! Thank you--they were so much fun to take because we didn't know how they'd turn out until we got home. Thanks--it was SO much fun learning to draw her! Michael actually took our drawings and some pictures and had them matted and stuff for Christmas. I'll have to put a pic of it up here. :thumbsup2

Come to think of it, I dont' remember the song I had either. I just know at the end of the ride it always goes 'Love in a rollercoaster!'

Post a picture of that! It sounds super cute!

Haha! I'd forgotten about that. I just love that ride! :thumbsup2 I'll try to remember to put it on my photobucket tonight!

It was SUCH a great last day. We just love DHS. The hand and feet are in front of the Great Movie Ride. And the umbrella is over by the entrance to Lights Motors Action. If you pull on the umbrella, it makes it rain! :thumbsup2 Aw, thank you! I'm so sad that it's coming to an end too. I've absolutely loved writing for you all. I will for sure let you know if I start a website/blog. We're pretty sure we want to--I'll just have to get working on it. Our hearts were pounding SOOO fast! I don't know what we would have done if we missed it. :scared1: I'm excited to go back through everything and come up with our favorites. I've already told Michael that I want him to help me with it. :thumbsup2

Ugh....the end of a trip! So sad!! :sad2:
I really enjoyed the band part of RNRC (I guess since I didn't get to ride it that would explain why that was the favorite part of the ride for me  )
And that frozen raspberry lemonade looked sooo yummy! May have to get one next time!
And I am totally going to the Animation Academy! Your Minnie turned out really cute!
Great job on your TR!! Hopefully you guys will get to plan another trip soon!
:thumbsup2

Hey Kimmy! Thanks so much! YES--you would love all of the stuff in the Animation Studio! I have a feeling you, Landon, Steph, and Dustin will love it--especially the voice-over thing.

Do you really?!?! That is so neat! Where did you buy them? They're so pretty. Haha--thanks! I love B&tB and I couldn't help but take lots of pics!

Awesome! Yep--I do appreciate that! I get excited every time the clock says any of my favorite numbers or it's something like 1:11. Oh--and I'm gonna try to write back before this weekend. Try being the key word... ;)

Oh my gosh, Dustin will be amazing at the voice over thing!! He does the best narrations and has a million crazy voices!! That reminds me...every Thursday, we have a high school prayer breakfast and a few weeks ago, Landon and I went. Landon was just staring at this one girl and flirting with her and Dustin was narrating it and saying stuff like "Hey baby, what's up? You wanna have a play date some time or something?" in this suave guy voice and it was hilarious!! Haha. I'm so excited for the voice over thing!!

I bought the princess carrousel horses from either the Disney store online or Amazon. I didn't know they on Amazon at first! But I love them!

Your last update made me cry! I loved it. I love that you went on ToT for your last ride and that you did Minnie for the animation class. I think the spot you picked for the Stitch spot was absolutely perfect!! I love all your PhotoPass pics. ALL of them. I didn't know which one was supposed to be a bad pic, because they all looked good to me! :confused3 You and Michael are so cute!!

And OH MY GOSH...I didn't know Taco Cabana's still existed! We had one here when I was like 6 and I thought it was so cool! Then it closed and I thought they were all gone forever! That's amazing that they are still around!!

Hi Staci! So I did it, I decided to go ahead and write a TR. It won't have nearly as many pics as yours, but just thought I'd let you know. I'll miss reading yours. You guys are just so cute!

I'm sad to see your trip come to an end. I'm glad you guys had a fantastic time, though! :goodvibes

Ready for a couple more updates before this TR is over......

I know--I can't believe the actual trip part is over. :sad2: haha--well at least you were able to at least hear the band! The theming in there is just incredible. It was SOOO yummy! I could go for one right now. Thanks so much--it was so much fun to take the drawing class. Thank you!! I loved writing it. :goodvibes I hope so...who knows when that will be, though.

Haha! That is hilarious about Dustin making those "voice-overs" with Landon and the girl!! :rotfl: Yep--He's going to love that area! I have a feeling yall will all stay there a long time.

They're gorgeous! And I just love Amazon... I don't know what we'd do without it. We buy everything there.

Aw, I can't believe you cried in that update! Thanks so much. It was really a great last day. We did everything we wanted to do--all of our favorites and the things we hadn't done yet. I need to put the picture up of Michael's Christmas gift for me--did I tell you about him matting the Minnie pics? There were some pics where we just looked like we were in pain because of the sun. :upsidedow Thanks!

YEP! We love Taco C!!! It's by far the best fast food Mexican food around!

Hi Staci! So I did it, I decided to go ahead and write a TR. It won't have nearly as many pics as yours, but just thought I'd let you know. I'll miss reading yours. You guys are just so cute!

Hi Ann! I went and subbed to your TR! I won't be able to catch up for a while (life is nuts again) but I did see a pic of your little girl and she's SOOOO CUTE!!! :cutie:

I'm sad to see your trip come to an end. I'm glad you guys had a fantastic time, though! :goodvibes

Ready for a couple more updates before this TR is over......

Hello out there! How have you been Staci??

Hey Jenny! Let's just say it's been one of the craziest months of my life. Things have been turned upside down! I'll write an update soon... I'm in a wedding this weekend and have to drive 7 hours by myself, but I'll be back to update next week! I hope you've had a great summer so far!!

Hi Ann! Thanks so much! :goodvibes I'm glad I was finally able to come back to the DIS for at least a few minutes. I'm working on catching up on TRs and stuff--so I'll try to make it to yours asap! The wedding was wonderful! I hope you had a great weekend too!

7 hours?? By yourself?? :scared1: Be careful! Looking forward to your update!

Yeah, it was crazy driving that by myself! But I had music to listen to! :thumbsup2 I'll update about life next, and then I'll finish up this TR sometime soon.

Glad to see you back! Have fun at the wedding, and looking forward to your next updates when you can!:)

Once again, I am SOOOO sorry for neglecting my TR. :guilty: I promise that I was thinking about all of you often, but I literally did not have the time to even get on and update.

To put it mildly, life has been CRAZY. :scared1:

May was supposed to be calmer than the rest of the spring had been, but that turned out to not be the case. While we did have some free nights (thank goodness!), our weekends were still pretty nuts.

The first weekend, we took our youth to Tyler, TX to volunteer at Pine Cove Camps again. We had a GREAT time, and Michael and I got to see some of our really good friends that work at camp.

Oh—and my cousin had her baby the day before we left, so we got to meet little Paix as well!

The next weekend was actually free! It was the first in what seemed like forever.

The next week my cousin stayed with us, and then that weekend was her law school graduation party, so we went to TX for the party/mini family reunion. On Sunday I had a bridal shower to go to plus the church picnic.

Hehe…opening my gift.

The weekend of the 21-23, we were supposed to have a nice, quiet weekend and our only commitment was to go to our friends’ wedding. Let me start by saying that Danna and Jonathan (the ones getting married) have become some of our very best friends since January. We try to hang out at least every other week, and we’ve just gotten really, really close. So if they needed anything, we’d be the first to volunteer….

Well, Danna’s mom called me on Thursday (before the wedding on Saturday) and was practically in tears. She said their wedding coordinator backed out that day (she said she was too sick, but I work with her, and she wasn’t…but that’s another story) and she didn’t even do the programs like she said she would. So she asked if I’d PLEASE design and help them make the programs, and I said I’d love to. Then she asked if I’d PLEASE help coordinate things since they needed someone to be in charge, and she didn’t think she could. Of course I agreed, and there went our relaxing weekend. :upsidedow

It was a whirlwind of really late nights and wedding overload, but it turned out to be beautiful, and we’d do it all over again if we were given the option. And we’re so glad that we were able to help them!!

The following Tuesday, life turned upside-down. We’d been praying for a while that we would just know when it’s time to move elsewhere. Well, some things happened that made it pretty clear, and we went from planning to stay for another year (at least) to looking to move as soon as possible. The biggest issue is that our church budget is really hurting, and we’ve been told that it’s only a matter of time before Michael has to be cut to a part-time position since he’s the only other full-time employee besides the pastor. We can’t make it on half of what he makes now, and so we want to try to move before it comes to that. We talked it over with our pastor on Tuesday and he supports us fully, and then Michael met with the personnel committee on Sunday to tell them that we’re planning to move. While they all said that they would hate to see us go, they understand that they can’t ask us to stay when the budget is how it is. So those are the only people that know as of now (so please don’t say anything on FB if we’re friends), and we’ve been job-hunting every since.

We’ve both applied for full-time positions at the camp where we worked in the summers (Pine Cove), and I’ve had my phone interview, but we really don’t know what’s going to come from that. We also interviewed at a K-6th grade school in Dallas on Monday, and it’s looking semi-promising. We think that we would both love teaching there, and it’d be amazing to have a teacher’s schedule! A church in Houston and a church in Georgia also look like they might be promising. But it’s really all just up in the air right now. He’s applied everywhere from CA to IL to FL to DC. We would REALLY appreciate your thoughts and prayers as we try to figure out where we’re going to be next year. The good thing is that we both have our current jobs until we find new ones. But it’s still been crazy.

So job hunting has been the over-arching theme of our summer so far, with everything else going on at the same time.

June 2-5, Michael was at kids’ camp with the 4-6th graders at our church. The next week was pretty hectic since we were getting ready for youth camp the following week. We left the 14th and came back on the 19th. It was probably the best week of Falls Creek (the camp we take our youth to in OK) I’ve been a part of—both as a student and a sponsor. Our kids were incredible, and we just had an amazing time! It made it REALLY hard to think about leaving when we got back. But after about two days of questioning if this is really what we feel we need to do, we were both sure about it once again. It’s just going to be tough to leave “our kids”.

Oh—and my little brother was there with his church that he works at too!

Last weekend, I drove down to Brenham, TX (in-between Austin and Houston) for one of my best friend’s weddings. It was wonderful! Cecily was my roommate at a leadership camp a few years ago (we lived together for 9 months). She married Marcelo, who she met while she was in Chile for a year! I’m really, really sad that they’re moving back to Chile for at least two years, but I’m so happy for them. He’s a great guy, and they’re adorable together. I’m SOOO thankful that I was able to be a part of their special day!

We made the bouquets! I’d never done this before, and I’m really glad I was able to learn something new. I worked with another girl and we did Cecily’s bouquet! (Oh—and we used all of our hair ties to hold it together since we didn’t have rubber bands)
