We bought points last year and our home resort is Saratoga. I just called and switched our reservation to BLT (Lake View). This will be our first trip as a member.

We have 3 kids- a 6 yr old boy, a boy who will be celebrating his 5th birthday while we are there and a daughter who will be about 8 months at the time.

Any tips or suggestions?

We are so excited as this will only be our 2nd trip to Disney ever.

I have two suggestions, request a birthday button for the birthday boy and take time to relax and enjoy the resort. We enjoy "playing" around the resort almost as much as hanging in the parks.

First, congratulations on becoming DVC owners! I think DVC is such a good fit especially for parents of young children, you can come and go to and from the resorts/parks giving your children the much needed breaks they need during the day. As Kid-At-Heart pointed out, we also enjoy the resort just as much if not more than the parks! With DVC, gone are the "park commando" days, it's now about actually relaxing and having fun!

From what I read you will be going in July/Aug, really idrate the little ones (lots of water), come back to the resort 12-4pm (the sun and heat are brutal during this period) and they are closer to the hot pavement then you are. Hang out by the pool a bit, have lunch, have the kids take naps and then head back out when the sun has come down! Anticipate a FL thunder storm just about every day around 3:30-4pm, the sun and blue skies will re-appear shorly thereafter. Re-apply sun screen often, perspiration tends to wear it off! For your 8 month old, bring a change of clothes in case he/she gets too hot!

I so often see small children and babies in their enclosed strollers, with beat red little legs and I wonder how the parents would like to be in a stoller all day long baking in the hot sun

The beauty of DVC, you don't have to see or do it all everyday because guess what, you've got years and years ahead to come back to Disney!

Congratulations!
BLT is a great choice for your family because it will be so easy to go back and forth from MK (where I imagine you'll spend a lot of time). As others have mentioned, the DVC is so great because you have YEARS to make wonderful memories with your family. Relax and have a great time!

Congratulations!:banana: Places to take a break, your kids will love Tom Sawyer Island and its a great place to take a break. A snooze for the baby and places to run for your older kids. Carousel of Progress a nice place to cool off and take a nap without leaving the park, my hubby loves this napping spot. :rotfl2: Being at BLT one parent can take the baby back for a nap and the other parent can stay with the older ones at the park if they arent' ready to head back.

Earplugs at first aid if your kids are sensative to noise. Happy baby, happy kids, Happy Mommy!

Congrats on becoming a DVC member!! You will love it :) We also own at SSR. We love all the options available to us, like great places to eat, all the pools and beautiful villas and tree houses!! Not really a bad location in that whole resort. Also like being close to DDD.:cool1: Enjoy your trip :)

--Actually we are not going until October. It will be fall break for my 1st grader. We are hoping to attend the Mickeys Not So Scary Halloween Party. I do love how close we will be to MK so the baby and I can go back for a nap while my boys swim with dad. Last March when we went we were going going going the whole time and I do pln on relaxing a bit more this time. Thanks for all of the tips.
