We are thinking of staying at the Wilderness Lodge this May. It will be our first time to stay at that resort (as well as our first time to be at WDW in May).

Is there any area we should request? We will be a family of 4, DH and myself, along with our 2 DD's (who are both college age).

We were thinking of trying for a room with bunk beds, are they "normal" sized beds, or are they just for "little people"?

Historically, are there any discounts for there in May? I am thinking about getting an Annual Pass for our stay, if that will help.

How is the transportation? I know there is a boat to MK, it sounds nice. How are the buses to the other parks? Do they run at about every 20 minutes (I am figuring that is a "yes"!), and are they usually crowded? (I am hoping in May, the crowds won't be too bad anyway, so maybe this isn't even an issue.)

Any info on the Wilderness Lodge will be greatly appreciated!! Thanks! :flower:

I cannot answer about the bunks but saw no one had responded to you. You will love the Lodge in . It is so beautiful. We have found the busses to run efficiently to everywhere we wanted to go. We love the convenience of getting on the boat as well. Why not call and ask the size of the bunks? They are quite helpful when I call. Just try to call during a down time like late evening when a lot of folks are not checking in or out.

Have a great trip.

Thanks Lou-Ann! :flower3:

I guess I can ask when I call to book the room. I just thought maybe someone would know here on the DIS. I think I am going to book pretty soon, then hope for an AP rate to come out later. No matter, we still want to stay there. DD's have wanted to stay there for years, so now is their chance!!

DH and I were planning our first solo trip for Feb, but when they found out the said "how dare you go without us!". At their ages, we thought they wouldn't mind so much. So, we put our plans on hold and are now planning a May trip. I'm glad they haven't gotten too old for Disney! :goodvibes

Still, any information on room location would be nice. Or any other info!

Thanks!!

Bunk beds are definitely not just for kids. They are full size bunks. You'll like the WL. Rooms are nice but they are not large. We had one 16 year old with us and it worked out fine. The bathroom was a bit tight. We used the boats and buses. The boats were fun except on windy or rainy days. Luckily we one had one of those. Buses were on the slow side. Have a great time.

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in June 2004. It is our new favorite. My brother and DD slept in the bunk beds. My brother is 6 foot and had no complaints. We rented a car and used it to go to the other parks. We used the boat to MK which is a very nice ride.
You will love it! Must do Whispering Canyon and ask for ketchup!
We rented the boats too which was a blast! This is my favorite picture.

Going...?? You mean WENT! We went this past December. We had a blast! I thought it was suppose to be a relaxing vacation... it turned out more exhausting! LOL! Lot of things to do/see! Enjoy Castaway Cay!!

We have found the concierge floor at Wilderness Lodge to be very quiet.

We have been during May the last 2 years because of the Florida 1/2 Ironman at Fort Wilderness.

We usually have no problem getting some sort of discount for that time of year.

Our first stay at WL was on the 2nd floor and it was rather noisy. We could hear toilets flushing, people talking in the other room, etc. Since then, we have stayed up on the 7th floor and have never had a problem with noise because there isn't anything above you.

Is there a certain price range you have in mind?

Good luck with your trip. Have a great time. :flower: :sunny:

OOOPS Altzheimer moment. I dont know why but for a brief moment I thought it was 2004! LOL

Thanks! :flower: No, there is no price range, I'm just a bargain hunter and figure everything I can save on the room is more that we can spend on "stuff"! I love a bargain! I don't think I want to splurge on concierge level though. It sounds wonderful, but I don't think we would take advantage of all it's perks.

We are really excited about staying there. I'm going to call and make ressies soon. I think I will ask for a room close to the transportation, although I know they can't promise anything really.

purplern....GREAT PHOTOS! Seeing those really makes me even more excited than I already was. Whispering Canyon does sound fun. We will have to check that out too!

Also, I can't wait to shop in the resort, I am always a sucker for the hotel shop!

We had a Woodsview booked and I'm not sure if we were upgraded but Room 5001 was great. Had a view of the MK and faced the lake.

We had a woodsview. We were over the otter pond! But my DD wanted bunk beds so we ask them if they had any. They switched us to a courtyard view!! Beautiful! But with the woodsview we could see the Contemporary through the trees.

I was just going to suggest that you request to look out at the Castle since this would be your first time. In that case you would not be on the side of the building where the busses are but be right by the boat. It really does not matter at this resort as it is a short stroll to anything.......An upper floor on the north would be a great location.

Thanks! I hadn't thought about having a castle view! That would be COOL! (I know better than to get my hopes up though, they can't really promise anything, but it never hurts to ask!) I just can't wait to walk in to that lobby! It looks so great!

purplern: Oh my gosh! I don't blame you for having to buy that bear holding the fish! It is too cute!! :goodvibes I'm sure something like that is going to "speak" to me while we are there!

The snow globe is nice too!!!
They also had fleece blankets and t shirt and sweatshirts.

Oh! It's good to know that they have merchandise that is there all the time. I think I will have to come home with him as well! There is something about his face that you gotta love! :flower:
