Hi all. We'll be making our first trip home (new SSR owners) in about 2 weeks. My DW is a bit skittish about the housekeeping. I've seen from other threads where people have mentioned getting housekeeping on a daily basis for an additional fee. We'll be staying at a studio at the BWV. Can anyone let us know how much this is, or where to get the info? Sorry to post this, but we didn't get a member guide book yet. I'm usually a look it up yourself kinda guy. :)

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Maybe someone else can help you with the fee. Frankly, I was skittish originally about not having housekeeping. Now I am glad I don't have it.

If you're staying a week, they come on day 4 and give you fresh towels and take out the trash for you.::yes::

But here is what we do. We make the beds which takes less than 10-minutes. We empty our trash ourselves each night which takes 5-miunutes. Our room always stays clean and we save the housekeeping money.

It's up to you, but I would keep the money for 15-minutes of effort each day. Have a nice trip.::MickeyMo

Thanks doug, that's what my inclination is, but I figured I'll be prepared when my DW asks! :)

I think Studio housekeeping is $25 (maybe $30) per day requested, trash and towels (no beds made) $10 and towels only $6 per pack of 4 bath, 2 hand, 4 washcloths.

Really, we've NEVER gotten additional housekeeping in the 12 years we've owned at OKW, no matter what size unit we've had.

Thanks chuck. Whew! That's steep! :) Hopefully we can get by just doing it ourselves, but at least I have the option now to tell my DW what it'll cost if she decides to go that way.

Thank you!

Another one who was a little skittish about it-OK, I was a lot skittish. This was, believe it or not, a big reason why we didn't buy earlier. We finally broke down and bought "in spite of" the lack of housekeeping. Four trips later? Never thought I'd say this-but I love it! It truly does feel like "my home", after all, no one comes in to my house here while I'm away (unless I've met the individual beforehand). Wouldn't have it any other way. After a few DVC trips, I had to stay in a regular hotel on another trip and requested "No Housekeeping" for the 5 nights I was there except one "trash and towel" day. I think the Management was a little suspicious about what I might be hiding, not wanting them in my room! So try it-you may like it!

We prefer not having daily housekeeping too. It is so nice to not have to worry about "has housekeeping been in yet" or if they come in while someone is napping. Since our stays at DVC tend to be longer than a week and in units at OKW that seem like a home, we really appreciate not having to worry about housekeeping. The beds are so easy to make (maybe a minute to pull the spread up and go, taking out the trash daily is no big deal, and usually we don't need to do it at all unless we prepare a big meal. Filling, running and emptying the dishwasher is something we do at home anyway too, so not a issue.

Perhaps it might be more of an issue in a studio, because it seems more like a hotel room than a vacation home, so you might miss it more, but I don't think so.

good points simbasmom and diane! especially about the "has housekeeping been in yet?" I hate when that happens! :)

I think we're going to go it without the housekeeping. Hey, live and learn right?

Thanks a lot for the insights!
