Hi everyone I'm heading to discovery cove this weekend and was wondering if anyone can share their experiences and tips and advice? I'm very excited and can't wait!

TIA

Teresa

1. Get there early...before park opening so you are one of the first to get in. That way you get an early dolphin swim time and you don't have to constantly look at your watch to make sure you don't miss it.

2. If you have the extra money, get the private cabana. You get a little hut with ceiling fan, your own fridge, your own locker, your own 'person' who will get you anything you want. A snack basket that is constantly full. It comes with a table and 4 chairs plus two loungers. It was so nice to have that little bit of private space and not have to worry about your stuff so much. It is 2 steps to put it back in the locker or just put it on the table if everyone is around. The entire day is amazing but the private cabana made it a little more extra special. We were by the sting ray pond and the kids played in the sand and water right in front of us so we were able to kick back and relax a little bit too.

3. Plan to spend about 200 on pictures unless you are very controlled hahaha.....the pictures are amazing and you can't just leave them behind.

4. Go with no agenda, relax and have an amazing time. The food was good, the slushies (and the adult version) were amazing as well!!

We did the dolphin swim on Wednesday. Like a PP poster suggested, get there early. We arrived at 7:30 (when they start admitting people) and got an 8:40 swim time. It was just the right amount of time - we had breakfast, got our gear, lotioned up and were ready to go at 8:30. Because we were the first swim time, we got the short wetsuits for the dolphin swim, as I had read that the water would be on the chillier side. I was glad we did, the water for the dolphins is 72 degrees, so it was a little chilly to the body in the morning. I typically never get hot, so I was glad to have that extra layer of warmth. My husband is the hot-blooded one and he seemed comfortable. (Not hot, not cold). We also kept the wetsuits on for our first venture into the grand reef (after our swim), as that water is colder than the other areas too. After that we switched out the wetsuits for vests and it was no problem. About the first time I used the restroom I decided to make the switch - pulling on that wetsuit on a wet body is no fun!!

You will want the photos from the dolphin swim - it is awesome!!! You get to touch them as they swim by you, learn a few of their tricks, kiss it, pose with it and then swim with it. I was expecting the swim portion to be bumpy but it was sooooo not. My hair never even got wet nor did my sunglasses. We were lucky enough that all four dolphins in our "lagoon" got to swim together and show us some jumping tricks - don't know if that happens for everyone. We had a dolphin named Capricorn, the oldest male they have.
