I have never thought about Disney cruising until reading about it- It looks wonderful. Do you think that we should do a 4 day for our first try or should we take the plunge and go for a seven day cruise?

My question would be have you ever cruised before?

If you are unsure if you would like it than a four day would be wiser. We love cruising and found the four day entirely too short but did take our son on one for his first cruise to may sure he likes cruises. Now that he has three seven day's under his belt he thinks they are too short too- I agree- but unfortuanatly Disney does not do ten days, and a back to back seven would be a bit pricey to do each year, (if I could talk them into skipping our summers at cape cod -maybe but that is doubtful)
So my answer would be for us the four is too short but it may be a great "tester" if you don't know if you would like cruising.

I agree with AnnMorin! We did a 4 day in May of 2000 and loved it. We have a 2 dd, they were 2 and 6 at the time. Then in Jan of 2002 we did a 7 day which we loved. Then onto a 3 day in Dec of 2002, it was entirely too short.

Good luck!

I would have to agree.. If you have not cruised before, the 4-day is the way to go. Less $, less time.... If you love it (like we do) the 7-day cruises wil be waiting for you!!

We were wondering the same thing since neither one of us have ever cruised. So we decided to do the 4 day Wonder to see how we would like it or not.
I am sure if we enjoy the 4 day cruise(Feb 2004) we will do th 7 day Magic next.

try a four day first, and then you will be hooked like the rest of us!:Pinkbounc

I agree with the others--DH wasn't sure so we did the 4 day first; he liked it so much we booked a 7 day while still on board!

My husband and I went on a cruise for our honeymoon 7 years ago and hated it! We decided we would never cruise again. We were on one of those booze cruises (Carnival) and even though we like to drink as well, we still hated it.

Then family came along - A friend told me about the Disney cruise and said, she would never do another type of vacation again. The Disney Cruise was it for her family.

I told my Husband about it and we looked at the DCL web-site. It is very extensive and has lots of pictures and information. We booked a 4 day.

Went on our 4 day and before we even went to bed the FIRST night, my husband said "We are doing this again!"

We are getting ready to book our 7 day we had so much fun!

I guess my point being - I really wouldn't consider my husband and I to be cruising people - But with DCL - We are -

In fact it took many years for DH to get me on a ship again, now he can't keep me off-Disney is a totally different experience

We were first-time DCL cruisers and tried the Dec. 15 four-day Wonder. Unlike everyone else, we've decided that it was nice to try a Disney Cruise but we'd rather just do the parks or whatever and have the luxury of coming and going to any and all places when we like and not have everything so structured.

We did the 7 day Magic in January and just got off a 4/3 day back to back on the Wonder. We have four children 5-13 and none are really really crazy about Disney mania but love to cruise.

We've decided that it isn't worth the work to go on a four or a three day cruise. It cost us too much to get there for that short of time and it goes by way tooo quickly for us.
You just get in the relaxation mode right when its time to get off. Everyone is different though.

We also liked the Magic eastern itinary much better. Its warmer and the islands had a lot more to offer. Most people like staying on the Wonder at ports because of the islands. You also get 2-3 days at Sea plus the wonderful islands.

Hope this gives you more ideas!!

I'm in the minority here but I say do the seven day.

We did our first cruise last Dec, a seven day, and loved it. My husband was fine but I was a bit queasy the first day, but never got sick. Our seas were pretty rough with a late season tropical storm off to sea near us. But after that first night and some distance, I was fine.

This year, we did a 4 day on Dec 1 (in lieu of the cancelled 7 day eastern) then followed with a second previously planned 7 day western cruise. We're not rich, just members of DVC. Anyway, we felt that everything was so much more rushed on the 4 day that it was hardly worth it. Maybe we got spoiled on the Magic, but the Wonder was louder with many many many more bratty kids. The pace was just frantic to offer everything to the guests. You never really had time to take advantage of what was offered to the fullest. The 7 day was just much more relaxing in our opinion.

Just my .02 worth.

I just booked my first cruise, a seven-day eastern. I guess I'm with the minority, but I just couldn't see spending so much money for just a three- or four-day cruise. This could very well be our only opportunity to cruise, and I didn't want to "blow" it on a shorter cruise. I also really liked the idea of the three more relaxing days at sea.
