New DVC member question:

We are using points we have borrowed from next year for this upcoming week (September 5-9). We're due to check in on Sunday, so we may still be alright if Frances cooperates. However, does anyone know what happens to the points if we want to cancel one or two days of our trip?

The reservation line is busy, busy, busy so I can't seem to get any answers.

Can someone help?

once you check in you lose any points.

if you change your resevation today or tomorrow you should be fine.

otherwise you are under the 30 day rule and your points would go into holding account. this holding account will allow you to use your points 60 days before you next arrival date.

if you borrow from next year your points must be used this year!!!

If member services is closed when/if you decide to cancel, call the resort directly.

We were scheduled to visit Manhattan NY last year on points when the big blackout occurred. MS was great. They put our points right back in and we could either use them for something else or bank them. As long as it isn't your fault that you are cancelling. Our hotel had no electricity or running water so we had no choice. I'm sure you won't have a problem.

Thank you everyone,

If we do change our reservation, it would delay our check-in, so I don't think we would lose any points that way.

It sounds like it shouldn't be a problem. We may just check-in a day later than planned and hopefully Disney will just give us our points back.

Thanks so much for the prompt replies. We need a vacation so badly and I'm really getting frazzled with this weather.
