1st time to WDW, question about water parks

Hi guys!
I was tipped off to your wonderful site by a friend who frequents WDW. I'm planning our family's first trip in August. I have learned so much from this site. I can't believe I was just going to "wing it!" I Just wanted to let you know that I'm sure my kids' trip will be much more "magical" thanks to you all!

Now for my question....

I got seven day park hopper tickets with water parks and more. We now have the opportunity to spend a couple more days. If I just take the kids to the water parks one day and don't go to one of the major parks, will we loose a day off our 7-day tickets?
