I'm pretty clueless about this whole process. My bf is the one doing all the planning and he told me that when I get to Orlando that Disney is going to get my luggage for me and take it to the resort. (We are flying in from 2 different places but he is sending me the tags.) So does that mean I don't have to go to baggage claim at all? What if something happens where my luggage gets lost and Disney doesn't get it. I bought like $1000 worth of new stuff and I'm paranoid that my luggage is going to get lost. Have they ever made mistakes before? Thanks in advance. :)

As long as the luggage has the yellow tags on them AND you hang on to the claim tickets that the airline gives you when you check your bags, Disney will take the same responsibility in tracking them down and/or reimbursing you if they truly do get lost.

But YES, you do totally skip baggage claim. You put the yellow tags on your CHECKED luggage before turning them over at your home airport. When you arrive at MCO, go all the way downstairs to Side B Level 1, then head for the DME desk. When you get to the DME desk, they will confirm your resort location, ask you how many bags you checked with yellow tags, and confirm your flight home. You head for the bus, and are taken to your resort. Approximately 3 hours after you check in at your resort, your checked bags will arrive in your room. (If it is late at night, you may request that your checked bags be delivered the next morning.) It is always wise for air travel to pack in a carryon what you need for the next 24 hours. (A change of clothing and sleep necessities.)

IF the airlines misplaces your bags or they are delayed, Disney will be watching for them and will get them to you as soon as the airline gets the bags to them. If your bags are delayed for more than 24 hours, you will probably get some type of voucher from Disney for some clothing and necessities. If they are (heaven forbid) completely lost, you will be reimbursed the same way an airline will reimburse you for a completely lost bag.
