This our first trip WDW and we are staying at Port Orleans Riverside. My question is can you request which part you want to stay in? I have read the Alligator Bayou is the better one to stay at. Thanks

Yes, you can request what building. However, that's all it is - a request.

My requests have been honored about 80% of the time.

Hi,

Yes, you can request, but nothing is guaranteed. Good luck!

1st Timers, u are gonna have such much Fun, i just can't stand the thought of missing a year, Boo Hoo. ::MinnieMo pluto: :tinker: :ccat: :donald: :dumbo: :sulley: :tigger: :tink: :smickey: :mickeyjum

You can request which side and even a bldg or 2. It may not happen but you can request it. I think they usually honor the side you request but not always the bldg. You'll love POR, it is great! :thumbsup2 We are heading back in June for our 2nd stay at POR. Fire away if you have anymore questions. I know there are loads of people who know tons about POR..

thanks, when should I request, when I check in or can I call now. I am going in May.:woohoo:

Request it now, and then mention that you requested it when you check in.

I requested a specific room number at the Poly and had it honored. I couldn't believe it.

You can see the pictures of both the Alligator Bayou section and the Mansion House rooms on wdwinfo.com. Also, if you go to www.disunplugged.com, you can read a recent blog post about the Alligator Bayou rooms.

We recently stayed at POR in the Mansion section. I've never stayed in Alligator Bayou. The landscaping around AB seems more lush, but the Mansion rooms are more elegant - they feel more expensive than they are!

Try to make your room request now. They can almost always get you in AB or MH rooms, but maybe not in the building you wanted.

Have fun! Your first time will DEFINITELY not be your last...

Bldg 14 is closest with 15 & 18 the next. Ask for those.
We had bldg 14 2nd floor corner standard view and it was really a great location. I stay with the same view hoping my bldg request will be easier to grant. At night go outside and listen to the frogs, they are croaking away and talking with each other, it is really cool. My DD's started croaking with them one night and they would try to do it everynight thereafter. She is looking forward to doing it again in May.

Go to this site for some great pics.

I would have it put on my reservation now.

Have a good time.

In regards to your question about what specific building to stay in...

Some people prefer to stay as close to the food court and pool as possible. This is totally understandable, as it's a big resort and fairly spread out. But I liked staying a little farther away. It forced me to enjoy the resort more. Although it means more walking (with our 3 and 1 year old!) it also meant seeing more of a really beautiful place.

We stayed in Oak Manor this last time. It was very quiet but only about 5 minutes to either Fulton's Gift Shop over one bridge or the pool and food court over the other.

And take advantage especially of the boat ride either to Downtown Disney or the French Quarter. We did both - actually, we took the boat to the French Quarter one night for dinner, and their food court was much, much less busy and the food was as good or better. Then we took the boat to Downtown Disney - this was in the evening - and I think it's one of the best ways to get around. Much better than a bus!
