Cast memebers::)Me--age 33--a BIG disney nut

My mom--52 years old and never been to disneyworld
My step dad--63 years old and has never been to disney
My 2 sisters ages 28 and 30 years old--also never been to Disney

We arrived at the Greensboro, NC airport at 4:30 a.m. Got thru sercurity check points with no problems. Boarded the plane at 5:45 a.m. and lift off at 6:00a.m. Flight was uneventful except that this was my daughter and I's first time ever on a plane and she was a little freaked out when we were taxing down the runway. She kept saying "I don't know about this--are you sure we can't drive--daddy said we could drive." Once in the air she was fine--earned her wings. :)
Airplane landed at the Orlando airport and 7:30 a.m. and our Happy Limo driver was waiting for us in baggage claim. The ride was great and the first sight of all the Disney signs sent all of us into a frenzy. (Could it be because we had all been up since 2 a.m. or was it just the fact that this was a first trip to Disney for all of us.) This was my Christmas present to my family. We went with the Discovery Magic plan and I chose to arrive in style in a stretch limo.
We arrived at the Wilderness Lodge at about 8:15 a.m. and went to check in. The lobby took our breath away. It was beautiful. Our rooms were not ready yet so we went to the Whispering Canyon Cafe for breakfast which was wonderful. We then walked around the resort a bit and then caught a boat to the Magic Kingdom. Had a slight problem with the room keys not being coded with our park passes but within 10 minutes had the problem taken care of by guest services. The walk up Main street was everything I had dreamed of and more. The first sight of the castle took my breath away and I had to keep pinching myself to make sure that I wasn't dreaming and that I was FINALLY at DisneyWorld. We headed over to Adventure Land and went on the Jungle Cruise, Magic Carpets of Aladdin, Pirates of the Caribbean, saw the Enchanted Tiki Bird show then headed over to Liberty Square where we saw the Hall of Presidents and did the Haunted Manison. We did a bit of shopping and then settled down to watch the Share a Dream parade. We were all a little punch drunk by then because we had been up and going since 2 in the morning so after the parade we headed back to the resort to see if our rooms were ready. It was about 4:00p.m. and the rooms weren't ready so we went into the gift store and looked around a bit and then walked around the resort some more looking for Hidden Mickeys. We found quite a few. About 4:30 went back to check on our room and it still wasn't ready. So some of us sat by the fireplace and my sister went to the gift store to get one of the 100 years frames that you can get with one of your wishes and she came back and told us that the lady told her that we had no wishes on the room keys so back to the front desk I went to see what was going on. I was then told that we were not on a package deal and the wishes and park passes were not going to be on our room keys--by this time I am near tears and I am so tired. I told her to get my luggage out of the baggage office and I would show her my confirmation that says that I did indeed pay for the Discovery Magic vacation package. Within minutes she had it worked out without me having to go thru my luggage to find the confirmation papers--she was looking at the wrong reservation the whole time. It is now 5:15 p.m. and I again asked about our rooms and she checked and said that they were not ready yet. I lost it. She went to find a manager and when he came and looked into things found out that the rooms had been ready for hours but someone had forgotten to check them off as cleaned in the computer. So off to our rooms we go. We get to our rooms ready to relax when we notice on the doors that they are non-smoking rooms--there are 4 smokers in this party and I kept telling them over and over when making the reservations that I needed smoking rooms. I called the front desk and by this time was in tears. They said that there were no more 2 bedroom villas available right now but there would be tomorrow and to call back. The rooms themselves were lovely--great views of the woods, the main lodge and the beach area. I wasn't sure I was willing to give up such great rooms. We had a corner villa and it was heaven.
We washed up and then headed downstairs to dinner at Artist point. It was great. Everything tasted so good. After dinner we all went to the beach to watch the Electric Water parade except my step father who just had surgery on his colon 2 weeks before this trip--he was tired and went on up to the room. The parade was great. When it was over, I took my daughter up to the rooms for a bath and then to get her into bed. My mom and sisters stayed and went to the hot tubs. My little one was asleep before I could even get her pajama top all the way buttoned.
It was a great day dispite the mix up at check in.

Thank you for sharing your very first trip with us. Seeing it through your eyes with your report was just like being there.

What a wonderful present you gave your family! (wish my family would give me something like that! ;) )

OMG, that started out so nice and ended nice, I am just sorry you had those inconveniences in between! I remember my first trip to Disneyworld and I know EXACTLY how you felt walking down Main Street for the first time and seeing that castle, pure heaven!

Looking forward to more of your report!

Huh, excuse me, but do you need another sister or anything.......I'd love to be in YOUR family!:D I'm surprised then the WL didn't give you some serious comps for all you went through.

On to read day two now!

Mix ups at check in can be so frustrating, especially when you are sleep deprived. Sounds like you're off to a pretty good start anyway.

I enjoyed reading this, thanks for posting it.
