Each time I call with a question or make a reservation, the customer service rep, very nicely says "don't forget your 1st time pin from the hotel front desk, you never know what extra magic may await you!"

Is this true or am I just going to get talked to a lot more by the guests? :confused3I don't mind conversation, but last time I went to Disney (way before kids) the people were extremely courteous anyway. Are there any real "perks" to wearing these pins? I mean I'll get them for my kids and I'm sure they'll love them, but just wondering what other people have experienced wearing these pins.

OH and my husband and I are celebrating our anniversary while we're down there (just happens to fall during the kids spring break!) :lovestruc:lovestruc She said I should wear one for that too. There is next to no chance my husband will,:rotfl2: but I may if it really does bring us a little extra magic other than a nice conversation.

In my experience, first time pins resulted in mostly just pleasant comments from CM's. Birthday pins on the other hand, have resulted in pleasant comments and some free desserts!

Where do you get birthday and anniversary pins if you're not staying on-site? Or is it onsite guests only?

Wear them only if YOU want to feel special for wearing them. At the worst, you get some cast members and guests striking up a conversation with you. There is a slight chance you might get a free dessert or something similar, but with so many guests wearing them they have lost of their oomph.

You can get them at guest services at any theme park.

We wore ours alongside our anniversary badges, and got asked if we were having a good trip a lot. I think CM were very patient with our silly questions too!!

They make quite nice souvenirs too- I can see mine from where I sit in my lounge as I type this, hanging off a ribbon tied to our bookcase :)

They're promoting them now? Ugh! Also, people wearing them just to get stuff is why we can't have nice things.
These buttons sometimes brought extra random magic, but with people wearing them and expecting it, it has ruined it.:(

We had a few "birthday button" trips and got free desserts for the birthday child. But honestly, as we were using the Dining Plan it was a bit much. Once my DD got some extra attention during a parade. That was nice.

If you don't want to wait in line at guest services you can get them in the stores too. We got our anniversary pins from the Emporium last week.

We got first visit pins our first trip, and anniversary ones this past trip. The 1st visit didn't garner much attention but we did have a lot of people (CM as well as other patrons) wish us a happy anniversary which was nice :)

It's a free souvenir, and you can easily turn them into magnets when you get home, which is what i do.

I usually wear a birthday one if I'm there on my birthday but just because it's my birthday. I never expect anything and do enjoy the CM's saying happy birthday. I did get offered a few free desserts one year but since I don't often eat dessert I turned them down. Don't wear it because you are expecting anything, just wear it because you are happy you are there. As others have said, they do make good souvenirs
