1st Time On Site

Hi

Were staying for 3 weeks at POR in May 2 adults and 3 girls, 8,, 5,, and 3

We hired a car last time when we stayed on IT Drive,

Would welcome views on transportation on site, would we need a car? as we are going for 3 weeks we are going to live and breath disney this time, so will only be going off site 2 or 3 times max.

I wouldn't rent a car for three weeks as it would cost megabucks. I suggest that you use the bus system and rent a car for the just the days that you want to go off site. 3 weeks???? WOW, lucky you!!!!

You will find that the Disney Transportation System is more than adequate for your needs. I agree with the possibility of renting a car just for a few days as you need it.

You can rent from National at the Dolphin and the Car Care Center, so could plan to do your off-site activities (those other non-Disney parks and attractions) all together. If you're taking a towncar to the resort, you can get a grocery stop at the beginning of your trip and then re-stock when you have the car.
