Will we be there long enough for it to make a difference? A view seems nice but if all we do is sleep then should we care?

Thanks!

If you are doing the 3 or 4 day cruise, I would stick with an inside stateroom. If you are doing the 7 day cruise, you might want to consider an outside stateroom, just to get some natural light in the room after such long periods of being at sea. Just my opinion.

I would absolutely go with a verandah. You could probably get a good deal with a cat 6. The main diff between a cat 6 and cat 4 (besides a $1,000 or more) is about 40 square feet and Deck 8. We've only been on deck 8 and it is great, but if it was deciding between deck 8 and deck 6 in a cat 6 and not getting to do as many shore excursions, I'd go with deck 6. I would recommend staying away from an inside stateroom as they are packed in like sardines on the lowest decks and are really dark. With a verandah it really 'feels' like your stateroom is bigger. The comparison I can make is skylights. We just remodeled our great room by adding 6 huge 4x4 venting skylights. It really seems and feels like a much larger room, same is true with a verandah.

We did a 4 day in 2000 and had an inside stateroom. Other than changing clothes and sleeping, we spent very little time there. We were on Deck 6 and while it is darker, it was quiet and we never heard any outside noise. Next year we are doing a 7 day and have saved up for a verandah room. If you want to save money, the inside is fine. You can spend the extra money on excursions or something else fun (or take another cruise). :D

When I cruised 4 nights last Dec on NCL w/MIL to the Western Carib we had an inside stateroom and those other cruiselines have smaller rooms than Disney.
Nov 30th we leave on the Magic for 7 nights to the Eastern Caribbean. At first I booked a cat 10 on deck 2. However, a few months ago I was able to snag one of the secret porthole rooms on deck 5. So we are paying for inside room but we do have an obstructed porthole!! (thanks Michelle)

if it is your first time, I would lean strongly to the inside stateroom. You don't know what you are missing first off... and the difference could be used to have fun on the cruise... especially if you are going on the 4 day... you are so busy trying to do everything, you are hardly in your room (at least that is how it was on my first 4 day) By chance I ended up with an outside stateroom (Deck 1, so we had the two small portholes) and I think we looked out them a total of 2 times (The first night when we were having gale conditions, it was rough, but it was SO COOL seeing the waves crashing against the window) and then for like two seconds in the morning as we were getting ready for our day at Castaway...

I haven't been on a 7 day (Yet) but I would probably go for the inside, and save the money for fun at port and on the ship!

It all depends on what you like to do, how long you plan to spend in your cabin.
Personally, I like to have private time and the open verandah suits me very well. (DH and DS also like it because we can see/hear the ocean very clearly).
I like all the shipboard activities but I do so enjoy my time alone and away.

It was easy to go from Navigator's Verandah to the Verandah (upgrading) - but I don't think I could ever downgrade after being in the Verandah.

Again, it's all depending on your own personality.

Either way, calm seas, blue skies and much happiness to you,
Rae

Outside state room for sure. If you can swing a balcony, go for that. It makes a world of difference (to me). :)

On our first Disney cruise, we did a Cat. 11...it was our first cruise ever, so we didn't know what to expect. Since it was a 3 day, we were rarely in our stateroom anyway.
Now, we've had verandahs and have gotten very spoiled, although we do book Cat. 10s in the interest of being budgetary (in order to afford to cruise so much, we have to save somewhere!). We book far in advance and get the secret porthole rooms so we at least have some daylight and a little view. We did a secret porthole room on our three-peat, and we spent a lot of time relaxing in the Rainforest.
If you book an inside stateroom, you can always use the deck 7 aft verandah, which is rarely crowded. Usually it's deserted. For a budgetary verandah, book either a Cat. 7 (Nav. verandah) or one of the "secret verandah" rooms (Cat. 7's with Cat. 6-style verandahs that are slightly obsetructed...hence, the break in price...I have photos and room numbers on my website).
