Hello everyone! So my husband and I as well as our 1 year old are deciding to take a 7 day cruise to the Mexican Riviera and had a few questions. What time of year has decent weather Feb, March, or April? Also, what type of excursions do you recommend? So far it seems the only excursions that are suitable for us are the resort getaways.

Lately, I don't think I'd get off the boat ANYWHERE in Mexico.

While it's always good to excercise caution and use some sense about being safe, I'm planning to be on the MR cruise in late Jan and will be getting off in the ports. (Unless the ship it just too good to leave! :cloud9:) Certainly we should be aware of what's going on where in Mexico, but I'm probably closer to the violence where I live in Tx than some of the ports we'll be visiting.

We did these ports on our last NCL cruise with a then 3 yr old and 1 yr old. In Mazatlan the kids and I stayed on the ship while the rest of my group took a tour with Mazatlan Frank. In Cabo we hired a boat to take us parasailing and out to the arches. In PV we hired a taxi (van) to take us on a brief city tour with several stops and then to Chico's Paradise. There is an open-air restaurant beside a river. There are divers that jump off of large rocks in the rivers and you can take a swim if it's warm enough. There is also an amazing zipline. It's pretty intensive to trek the paths, but certainly worth it. My mom and I did the ziplines while the rest of our group watched the kids and ate.

If you're not going to have extra helpers to watch the kids while you do other things, then beach outings might be best. Or you could pick some of the city tours if your little one is a good car- or stroller-rider. I really think - if we do get off the ship - we'll mostly do beach days with our boys this time. They enjoy it and it's relaxing and easy.
