Looking to book our 1st Disney Cruise with our 4yr old and 7yr old. Considering going either late Oct, early Nov. 2014. Is this a good time to go? Also, trying to decide which is the better cruise: the 4 night Dream out of Port Canaveral or the 5 night Wonder out of Miami? Any suggestions are certainly welcome. Thanks!

Our first cruise was a 3 night Bahamas out of PC in October. We had a terrific time and the water at CC was fine for us. In retrospect, we wish we had done a 4 night instead as 3 nights barely lets you get into "cruise mode" before it's time to disembark. The cruise terminal in PC is top-notch, and you have the added benefit of taking the Disney transfers from MCO to the port.

Another "plus" with Oct/Nov is that many of the sailings are less expensive because most schools are in session.:)

Either cruise is a great choice. The Dream is newer and huge. The Wonder is smaller and feels more homey, but she's also ready for a refurb. Still in decent condition but does show her age here and there. I would choose the Dream because she sails out of Port Canaveral. Then you can spend a day or three at WDW.

Also, if you go in October the ships will be decked out for Halloween. There is a costume party but not so much trick-or-treating, so your kids would probably prefer to be home for the actual holiday

Welcome to the DIS! :welcome:

We are going on our first Disney cruise on Dream in nov 2014. We have cruised 4 times before on RCCL but with no kids. We went in nov once and the weather was great! The other 3 times were in jan-feb and I wouldn't do it again unless I got a great deal. It was chilly/windy and the ocean was rough. I would definitely recommend November! :)

Longer is always better!! Plus, going that late in the year (Oct or Nov), I'd go Caribbean instead of Bahamas for warmer water. I realize you'll be at Castaway either way but I'm assuming you are choosing between Nassau (Dream) and Cozumel (Wonder) for the other stops. I'd pick Cozumel.

Pretty much sums it up for us also...... :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
