Ok, our cruise in Jan. will be our first so here's a dumb question...
Is there daily housekeeping service on the ship. It so do you leave a daily tip like you do at a hotel? Sorry for my naivete!
Marilyn :bounce:

There is housekeeping service at least twice a day. They are usually around for any additional help you need during the day. There is a recommended amount for each person in your room for your tip. They are usually given at the end of the cruise. You can charge them to your room account if you would like to and Guest Services will give you a voucher and envelopes to give your room steward. You can also give them cash.

Just to elaborate a little. Cruise ship staterooms are attended to by a steward. They do a little more than typical housekeeping, things like keeping your ice bucket filled, should you request it. At night, during turn down service, many stewards leave little friends around the room in the form of towel animals.

Check out Dave's Tribute site for his collection of towel animal pictures:

Welcome to the board. My motto is this, "the stupid question is the one you don't ask." Ask all the questions you want because you probably will get an answer on this board. Kathy

The stateroom host or hostess is the person you will want to stuff in your suitcase and bring home with you at the end of the cruise... :teeth:

I swear, the most depressing thing after each cruise is getting home and there being no mints on the bed, no towel animals, no ice, no extra lotion just because he knew I liked it, nothing. *cry*

This past stateroom host we had, Ramir, was just the BEST... he was more than a stateroom host -- he was just a bright spot in my day every day onboard.

"How are you today, Miss Gina?"

"You look so pretty tonight Miss Gina!"

He was just the sweetest thing... I really really should have brought him home with me. :)
