In this day and time, I know it is hard to believe that not everyone has had rental car experience. We have always taken transfers from the airport or have just driven. Thanks to this board the task of reserving a car rental is done--at Orlando airport Friday before cruise and at the Radisson after the cruise--now here is the questions (please forgive me for being so in the dark) When we get to the airport--is it just a matter of riding a shuttle to Avis--do all 4 of us go with our luggage or do we wait in the terminal at the passenger pickup area? I don't see any problem at the Radisson: however, when returning the car to Avis at Orlando airport-is there anything we need to know? Any input from you guys is appreciated..

When you go downstairs to claim your baggage you will see the rental car desks. Just go to Avis, check in, and sometimes the cars are right across t he street, but once we had to all go (with our luggage) on a shuttle bus that took us about 2 blocks to a different parking lot to pick up car.

It is very easy!!!!

As far as returning the car, when you return to the airport, you'll see signs directing you to "Rental Car Return". Follow those signs, and then follow the signs to Avis. Somebody will be standing there with a hand-held computer and receipt printer. If you are paying your charges with the credit card you rented the car with, and if there's no dispute of the charges, (s)he'll print a receipt for you and you'll be on your way.

My suggestion... drive up to your airline's curbside luggage checkin and check in your luggage. Then follow the signs for "Terminal Return" and then go to the car rental return. Then you can walk from the car rental return to the terminal.

Dave....you are so smart....why didn't I think about that this past feb? What a pain it was to have me, and the three kids try to handle several bags from the rental return area to the terminal. I should have done what you just suggested and left the 18 year old to watch the luggage while I returned the car!! I am ususally pretty good with things like that but just didn't think about it!!!!

Thanks for the tip!!
