Can anyone provide me with any ideas about what is best to do on Christmas and New Years Day as this is our first visit to WDW? Any special "must do" things? Where to dine on the holidays? Previous experiences, etc. I am surprising my new wife and would like to make this really special for her.
Thank You!::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

When we went at this time, we wanted to have a special dinner.. We had Christmas dinner at Artiste Point and it was lovely, Wilderness Lodge is decorated so beautifully at this time of year. Another time we ate at the Grand Floridian Cafe as we wanted to have traditional turkey and enjoyed it as well..

I was surprised that some people decorated their windows with lights just to make their hotel rooms a little more festive for holidays.. I thought that was great.. Also, and I am not sure if they still do this, we found Christmas stockings hung on the doors to our rooms for our children.. they thought that was great.. I am not sure if they still do that, but they did it then.. This is going back a few years.. Enjoy your vacation!!!!!

Welcome to the Dis.. glad you found us, I am sure others will help you with your planning that is what makes us such a great Community..

Thank you for the response. I am really glad I found the Disboards. I have found alot of great info that should really help us out on our first visit to WDW for the holidays.
Thanks Again!:D

If you want to be at MK to bring in the New Year, plan to spend the whole day there.

When we were there two years ago, I believe it was around 10:30 am that they stopped letting people in the gates - park at capacity.

Holiday Suggestions:

1. PS, Make them now as they go quickly and waiting will limit your choices drastically. All the restaurants serve some form of the turkey dinner for xmas. We always do Yachtsmans St for xmas eve, superb food & service.

2. Take her to Tea at the GF. The cms sing carols, followed by the pianist & band who fill the lobby with holiday tunes. Snag some gingerbread at the real gingerbread house in the lobby as well.

3. Take a carriage ride. These are available at FW and are very romantic.

4. Make a resv for the CP dinner pkg. If this show doesnt get you in the holiday mood nothing will. It is the best show on property and the pkg is worth the $$
