DH and I are planning a trip to Disney Feb 2-8. It will be just the 2 of us and I have made reservations at CBR. We love POR & POFQ but wanted to try something different this time. If you have stayed at CBR before, tell me the good points and the bad points of this resort. Is there a specific section that is better than another?

You might want to take a look at the CBR FAQ. link listed below. You will find lots of great information there along with trip reports.

The CBR is a great resort. We've stayed there two times and enjoyed ourselves immensely both times. The theming at the CBR is really nice. You'll find brightly painted buildings, tropical trees and plants, white sandy beaches, a marina and lots more.

If you'll PM me, I'll send a very detailed review.

We just got back Saturday night. We have always stayed at Port Orleans Riverside (Alligator Bayou). We did not like the CBR at all. We were in the Trinidad South building which was, as far as I know, the furthest building from the Port Royale. We didn't like Port Royale at all. I guess maybe we were spoiled from Port Orleans. The hot tub at CBR was broken and was never fixed. We just didn't like it. Next time it will be Port Orleans all the way! There is so much to do there and we really missed the boat to the Marketplace.

We've stayed at all of the moderates and CBR nudged out POR Alligator Bayou for the top spot on one of our last trips.

On one trip we had some issues with POR that were never fixed, despite constant calls, so we checked out the next day and moved to a different resort. On our last CBR trip we were somehow upgraded to a waterview room and had the most gorgeous view of the 'lake' as soon as we opened our curtains. Yes it can be a hike to some of the rooms from Port Royale but we use those walks as a time to wind down for all of us. The colors are festive and parts of the resort are very relaxing, only wish the kids were old enough to let me actually enjoy one of the many hammocks. Really nice resort, but then again I like all but one of the ones that we've stayed at and no the one I don't like is not POR. POR is still one of our favorites.

The food court is great for breakfast but after staying at the POR and value resorts I think they are all the same. Cute themeing, great bar by the pool. We never care which building they put us in because we drive to the food court, park the car, eat and then dump the mugs in the car and catch the bus from there. Then when we get back at the end of the day we can grab the mugs and get some late night coffee or something and drive back to our building, much more convenient than walking and lugging those mugs around.

My whole family LOVES CBR. Sadly it's almost never available for CM rates (sis is a CM) when we want to go. It's definitely our favorite.

As for the "hike" factor, it's NOT THAT BAD. Some people make it sound like you're walking 10 or more miles. The first time we stayed there, we were across the lake from the main building, but we LOVED our daily walk across ~ visited the birds (who I understand aren't there anymore) on more than one occasion, and even got a good laugh when our Dad and another father were talking to each other thinking the other was a bird. :) Even walking slow it was no more than 10 or 15 minutes.

We love CBR -- it's so beautiful, and there's so much to do. It's so quiet, yet there are lots of people around if you want more activity. We love all the pools, the beaches, the hammocks, the wonderful Promenade walkway....

For us, it's like a vacation retreat within our WDW vacation!

I would request as close to the main building/food court as possible. Although the walk across the lake is pretty, it is no fun with achy feet after a long day in the parks.
