1st time alone or with kids?

We would like to take a Disney cruise but don't know whether to take DS4 and DD1 with us the first time. We have never cruised before and think it might be a good idea to go alone (we really need the time together anyway) to get the feel of it, but don't want the kids to miss out on the magic either. Advice Please!
