1st reservation ??????

hi, we recently made our first DVC reservation ( we closed this past spring, 200 pts VWL plus 100 magical beginnings) our ressy is for OKW jan 24 - feb 2 in a 1 bedroom (224 pts). my question is? we have 3 small children and we may be having my parents join us. if we upgrade to a 2 bedroom we would us an additional 80 points most of which we have ( actually we would be 4 short) my parents will help pay for the extra points to stay with us, we are unsure if we should use all of our points (and borrow the extra 4) or rent the extra 80 points to save ours for next year. I hope I'm not to confusing, just trying to make the best use of our points.

If you bought in spring that likely means you have a December use year. You sold back 100, have a 100 (which you will need to bank for that Jan 2002 trip) and thus will have 300 total come December of this year. You say the 2BR requires 304, meaning you are only 4 under. I'd probably just borrow rather than go through the stages of renting (finding a renter, agreeing, contracts, etc.). But renting 80 to save more for next year would be OK too. You are a new owner who is suddenly facing the same situation we all went through--why didn't we buy more points?
