Just returned from 2 nights at RPH. Nice hotel but didn't think it compared to the Disney Deluxes we have stayed in, especially the Polynesian. Our room was more the size/quality of Wilderness Lodge to us without the balcony or refrigerator. The EXTRA hotel benefits are what sold this place for us. Their "fast pass" and early H.P. entry is great! We could have rode H.P. several times if it hadn't made DH and I "kinda dizzy" the first time. Walked on everything else.

We got a small upgrade to water-view/hulk-view (room 1644) but I would not have paid extra. I am glad that I requested a higher floor because trees block alot of the view on the lower ones. The boat transportation is great and the walkway to the parks is lovely and closer, we thought, to IOA.

We had a lunch at Bubba Gump's and dinner at Emerils Chop/Chop in the hotel. Both were very good and you get a free app. OR dessert with your park ticket at Chop/Chop. The banana creme pie was great!

We will definately stay here again for the extra benefits but I doubt we would pay extra $$ to stay in the other 2 on-site hotels or upgrade the room.

Next time try Portofino! You will never go back to any other hotel after that! It is worth it! Romantic for you and your hubby and fun for the kids witht he great pool! GREAT rooms! Look into the Lowes First program and upgrading to a suite is easy and affordable! Great food! The culd lounge is wonderful! the Staff blows Disney away! And at Christmas....wow! AWESOME!!! I have stayed in almost every type of room there and I still get excited everytime will pull up to check in!

If we got a good rate we might try Portofino next time. We have stayed at other Hard Rocks and really didn't care for them. We have only stayed Club level once at BWI at Disney when they upgraded us on our 30th anniversary. It was great but we kinda felt we were having to time around it. Only the 2 of us go now so the room at RP was fine but we did miss the balcony and having a empty frig.

After experiencing the extra benefits I doubt we will stay anywhere else when going to Universal though.

We are Loews members already. I guess that's why we got the small upgrade to garden-view.
