If i book my room online instead of the phone...do they still take the 1 night plus tax deposit out? I read in another post that if you book on the phone they do charge your cc, but if you book online they do not.
does anyone know? I booked my room on the 7th, and my card is still not charged yet :confused3
I also called the RP and asked if they could put me in a park view room...the guest services guy said they already assigned me a room... a park view room! yippie!! anyhoo, i asked him if he could tell me the room # he said no. hmmm, why, I wonder? again --------> :confused3

It depends on which site you booked on. If you booked on the Universal site, you won't be charged a deposit in advance. You pay the full amount all at once. The Loew's site does charge a deposit at the time of booking.

I wouldn't think they could tell you a room number in case something changes between now & then. Actually, I'd be surprised if they already know. Do you think it's possible he thought you were asking about a "pool" (water) view room? If you're certain he knew you were asking for a park view, they may have you documented as requesting that view.

Just to confirm - if the reservation is made on the Universal site, there is no deposit required? The full amount is paid when - at check-in?

If that's the case, what happens, if for instance, the rates go down, and I phone to have them changed. That can't be done online. Would they charge me a night's deposit then, after the phone call?

I made my reservation on the Universal website and was not charged a deposit. The rates went down, I called and changed my reservation to reflect the new discounted price. I was still NOT charged for the room until I checked in. :)

Hope that answers your question.

wow...I didn't know that! When I checked the website it says that a deposit of 100% of first night will be charged in 14 days.

They ask for a CC guarantee to reserve the room, but don't charge anything until you check out. As Sue said, changing the reservation over the phone doesn't change the deposit policy.

wow...I didn't know that! When I checked the website it definitely says that 100% of the day of arrival will be charged immediately.

That confused us the 1st time we stayed at UO too.

i'm w/ the others....booked online Universal site (AAA discount code) not charged anything to my account till i was there.

btw tarheelmjfan.........how did the using 2 different cards work out for you? i remember you were using a credit card for "charging" to the room, and wanted to use a different one for the "room charge".....i told you what happened when we went w/ our cc.....just dawned on me if you had any problems?? (I'm guessing not, cuz I haven't heard of any!)
