We are going to WDW in less than 2 weeks, getting there Saturday the 8th at about 5:30. Our original plan was to hang around the resort (ASMo) the first night since we opted not to buy tickets for that day. ANYHOO, my dad (who lives in Fl) has just decided to come visit us Sat. night and I think he would like to take the kids and I to dinner. My problem of course is that we are 13 days out and ADRs are hard to come by. Also, Dad's wife is a somewhat picky eater and neither of them seem thrilled by doing a buffet. Lastly, we aren't sure that we can all fit in Dad's car, so we MAY be limited to what would be easiest for us to reach via bus.

I think Dad might like ESPN or the BRG&BW at the BW but I understand that they don't take ADRs. Would we be crazy to try to get in there on a Sat. night (in April, no less) with 2 hyped up kids? (DS4 & DD22mos). Would some other place in the area be better? What about Gulivers? My thinking is that it would be a little more low key, and possibly easier to get seated, but is it a good 1st night type place to go? How long would we spend just trying to get there?

I think my other best option might be someplace at DTD (less transportation issues), but I'm not sure I can get ADRs at this point. Rainforest Cafe came to mind, but then there is still the issue with the kids. The only place I've ever eaten at DTD is PYC and that was eons ago, so I really have no clue about what would be good here.

Any other suggestions?

I would try to get a reservation at the Concourse Steakhouse. It may be the most underrated restaurant on property. Even if the clan won't all fit in the car you can take the bus to MK and it is less than a five minute walk to the Contemporary.

Hi Cheshire Figment-

I had actually thought about the steakhouse. We are planning to go to Chef Mickeys another day (after Dad goes home) so I thought I'd try a different location for day one. Would someplace in one of the other Monorail resorts be appropriate?

Thanks for your help!

How about Kona at the Poly? It has a Steak Teriyaki that is great and also plain medallions of Filet Mignon for the real plain picky eaters. And the fish is fantastic. Macadamia Mahi Mahi is my favorite in all of WDW. And it is out of the way enough that you may get an ADR. Good luck and enjoy!

Our group ate at Olivia's in Dec. one evening. It was quiet enough to visit and we all enjoyed our food. It is at Old Key West. Some of us rode the bus over from the parks and others went to DTD and rode the boat to the resort.
