On our first night we will be having dinner with my cousin & her DH and were planning on Ohana since we are staying at the Polynesian. After reading the reviews, I am wondering if we should make a different choice. There will be 4 adults and 3 kids (2 of which are picky eaters). DH and I are not adventurous eaters and do not eat sea food at all. We thought Ohanas would have something for everyone but I also want a good meal for my money. Any place we choose must be out of the parks since my cousin and her husband will not have park passes. If we were to choose someplace like Chef Mickey's could they ride the monorail with us from the Polynesian? Thanks for any advice.

I have to say that Ohana's might not be be a good place for picky eaters. You are definately limited to what they have. Its a set menu. Have you looked at the menu for the Kona Cafe, also at the poly. We have had a good meal there a few times and I don't eat seafood either. They have a kids menu and good desserts. My dad always asks for them to leave something out of the dish that is listed on the menu, example- he does not like onions and its no problem for them to leave it out of his food. They also have good desserts. If you do choose to goto Chef Mickey its no problem for your family to ride over on the monorail with you. Also over at the CR is the Concourse Steakhouse which is good.

You may want to consider Spoodles on the Boardwalk, or Palio's (I think it's located in the Swan). I believe Palio's has a great Italian menu with lots of standard favorites.

The Concourse Steakhouse may be another good choice.

I agree with the post regarding consideration of something besides Ohanah's. We like it there, but it is definitely not the place for picky eaters (because of the set menu & seafodd is a part of the menu). I also like the idea of going to a different resort. Since your cousin & husband do not have passes into the parks. I would suggest the following:

Grand Floridian: 1900 Park Fare (it is a character buffet - good food for a buffet & lots of choices)

Contemporary: Concourse Steakhouse is good. You might want to go to dinner early & then stick around for the fireworks. Go up to California Grill (what I am about to say was true for our visit in March) there is access to the roof top & you can watch MK fireworks from there. Check with someone at Contemporary to see if you are still able to do this.

Boardwalk: ESPN Club is a fun place & I'm quite sure everyone can find something on their menu. There is an arcade right adjacent to the club so the kids can entertain themselves. Spoodles might be a little "adventurous", although we really like the place. Flying Fish is very good.

Yacht/Beach Club: The Yachtsman Steakhouse. This is our favorite restaurant & our kids love it here. It is a little pricey but the food & service are well worth it in my book. there is also an arcade right near the Yachtsman so if the kids finish before the adults & are of an age they can explore on their own, they can occupy themselves while the adults finish dinner & visit.

At either Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach I would plan to eat a little early (or very late) and watch Illuminations (or what you can see from the bridge near both places. You won't be able to see it all, but your cousin & husband can get a little more of the magic while they are there. Have fun!!
