Need your advice on baby's 1st haircut!

Back in '06, DS#1 was almost 11 months with very "shaggy" hair. I had heard about the MK Barbershop and was determined to get his first haircut there. Well, I couldn't find it (might have been the tears from being at WDW blinding me or that fact that we were with a group of 17 1/2(DS#2) people and had to follow their plans) and he got his first haircut back home.

DS#2 will be 17 months while in Disney and has not had a haircut yet. His has taken longer to grow and the back is longer and gets curly. The top is that long yet and it's very fine.

My question is: how old was your son when he got his first haircut? Should I just take this opportunity to go to MK Barbershop (now that I know where it's at ;) ) and get a special 1st haircut or just keep letting it grow with his cute little curls? BTW, I am not a fan of long hair on little boys, no offense to anyone else. I grew up a military brat and am married a military man, so I love the short hair!:rotfl:

Well, my son was 2 years 2 weeks when he got his first haircut at Disney. His hair wasn't too long when we started planning the trip, so I figured he could just wait (plus I had only had girls before). Once we decided we wanted to wait for Disney his hair started to grow. It was to his shoulders all around when he got it cut which made it even more traumatic for us. He went from looking like a baby with these long blonde curls to looking like "a little boy". Of course now that it's been cut once, he already needs a haircut again...

DS was 15 months old when he got his first haircut at the Main Street Barber Shop. Micheal (I believe that's how his name is spelled) did a fantastic job on DS and wrapped up his curls for the baby book. :)

That's what I'm afraid of. With DS#1, I couldn't wait to see him look older. With DS#2, I want to keep him a baby for as long as possible!

Maybe it's pregnancy hormones, but I don't know if I'm ready!:rotfl:

Has anyone ever had their daughter's hair cut there? My one yr. old dd has really long hair that is constantly in her eyes, and we were thinking of having it cut when we go down in Sept. Not sure yet, since she is a girl she can have long hair, lol. It's just a lot of work trying to hold her still to put it up out of her face, she doesn't cooperate very well!

Next time we go, I will def. be doing this! DD3 has LOOOONG blonde curly hair. It actually is past her butt when wet. crazy long! and we live in FL so it stays hot and sweaty and he hair is ALWAYS in pigtails because its so long and thick. It tangles easily. Anyways, I am getting her 1st haircut at Disney, even if it has to wait lol.

My 4.5 year old DD got her hair cut there at the same time as her brother. She only got the ends trimmed though. Her hair is down to her lower back.

Bangs are always a good way to keep their hair out of their eyes. My younger DD doesn't have them, but my older DD did until she was about 4.

My sons all had haircuts before their first birthdays. They were born with full heads of hair. :cutie:

DD#2 15 months old at the time had her first haircut there - just did the bangs - still got certificate, hat and hair with pixie dust all wrapped up for baby book - they also only charged me $5. the pictures were adorable! I would love to do it with DD#3 but she doesn' have much hair yet and we are going next month - plus in our family it is bad luck to cut it before a year old. We won't be going again until she is close to 3 or 4 y. o.

Our son had his haircut the day before his first birthday at the MK barbership. Michael did terrific. He didnt take too much off, but took just enough.

My boy has the same type of hair!
But, he´s eleven now and you can probably count on your one hand the
times he visited the hairdresser´s!
He doesn´t like his hair inpigtails - it´s always free and beautifully curly and
blonde! And also, like your daughter, all the way past his butt!
In school, they call him Rapunzel or just "Rap" which doesn´t bother him at
all!
Strangely enough, he doesn´t get teased in school for wearing it - just the
opposite! The other boys think he´s coll and daring! I guess they envy him
in a way! And with the girls....!!! Being popular is saying the least!
They love brushing his locks during recess!

I am planning to get both my girls their first haircuts there if we can get in. DD3 has never had her hair cut (slow grower) and DD 17 months. Hers is still pretty short, but more than her sister had at her age. She will just get a tiny trim. My DS 4 gets his haircut about every 5 weeks! Heck maybe he'll get one too!

My dd got her first haircut at 19months last year at MK. It was so cute and we have it on video. She loves to watch it. My dd#1 was there and wanted something special too so they put magic glitter in her hair. It was a great experience. We went right before the parade got to Main Street so we were able to see the parade from right outside the door of the barber shop.
