We are 26 days away from heading from NJ to Orlando. This trip, we have a first timer to Disney World coming with us, our son. He turned one almost 2 months ago, and we figured we'd use the excuse of taking him to the Harmony Barber Shop on Main Street USA for his first haircut.
We are flying down on Jet Blue. Little man has his own seat on the plane, so we will be bringing his car seat. Since we are bringing his car seat, and I found a great deal on a car through Costco, we are renting a car from Alamo. This will enable us to pick up some of the things we need, rather than bring them with us or ship them. It also means I get to see my best friend from high school who lives in nearby Celebration.
This year we are staying at a new resort for us, the Pop Century. I'm really hoping to get a King room at this resort. Most of my recent stays have been in Deluxe or Moderates. We are capping the week off with a night at the Yacht Club before we head home.
Our flight lands at approximately 7:00 PM. I've already checked in with Alamo, so all I need to do is get the luggage, get the car seat and the kiddo in the car, and head off to the Holy Rodent Empire.
Our first morning, the plan is to get to the Magic Kingdom early, not rope drop early, because, well.... toddler in the morning. But get there early and just soak in the magic. Then ride the monorail to CR for breakfast at Chef Mickey's. Post breakfast, back to the Magic Kingdom where the little man will be getting his first haircut, and I will be getting a trim. I'll have to figure out somehow to make it up to mommy. Maybe get her a manicure at the GF during the trip. After the haircuts, its back to the Pop for some pool time and a nap. Then its off to Hollywood Studios for dinner at the Brown Derby and Fantasmic! In all the times we've been to WDW, neither of us has managed to catch the show.
Day 2 sees us having a late breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at the Grand Floridian. I'm thinking we are going to drive over, as we are then planning to go to Animal Kingdom. Little man likes zoos and looking at animals, so this should be fun. I figure we'll be at AK until 3:00ish, which means back to the room for a nap/swim, and the California Grill for an early dinner and maybe the Main Street Electrical Parade and even Wishes if we are still awake.
Day 3 and its off to the Kona Café for breakfast. Tonga Toast for the wife and child I'm sure. I think we are planning to head offsite to the EVIL Universal to see Diagon Alley. Dinner is scheduled for 5:30 at the Flying Fish, and from the boardwalk, its likely we'll be heading over to my friend's house to visit with his family. If not, we'd likely head into Epcot to see some of the performers in the World Showcase and Illuminations.
Day 4 - Breaking bread with Lilo and Stitch. I sure hope she remembers to feed Pudge the Fish so we have good weather. After breakfast, its of to Epcot. Depending on how the little man is doing will determine how much time we spend at Epcot. I know its not what it was, but we are going to take him to see Figment. After Epoct, its dinner at Citircos and then hopefully spending some time listening to the big band play in the lobby.
Day 5 - Hollywood Studios. How I wish the little man was old enough for the Jedi Training Academy. Oh well, we're just going to have to come back when he is old enough. Oh the horror, the shame, having to plan another trip to Disney. Breakfast will be a quick snack at the resort, and then its off to Hollywood Studios for lunch at the 50's Prime Time Café. Pool and nap time, then off to the lake Buena Vista Shopping Village, Walt Disney World Village, Disney Village Marketplace, Pleasure Island, Downtown Disney, Disney Springs, whatever they are calling it this week. We have dinner reservations at the Boathouse with friends who just moved from PA down to Orlando.
Day 6 - Breakfast with Pooh and Friends at the Crystal Palace. Not scheduled early enough to get into the Magic Kingdom before rope drop. Then hack to enjoy a nice relaxing day before heading back to the Magic Kingdom before a 5:30 dinner at Citricos in the Grand Floridian. Back to the Magic Kingdom to enjoy the evening.
Day 7- Check out of the Pop Century and throw the bags in the car and head to the Epcot Resorts. Breakfast at the Cape May Café, and then check in for our room at the Yacht Club. If the room is not ready yet, we'll head over to the Magic Kingdom. If it is ready, I think hanging out at Stormalong Bay is in order. Might even do that if the room is not ready yet. Dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse, and then get changed into our costumes, as its the first night of MNSSHP. Trick or Treat time....
Day 8 - stay in bed as long as possible, relaxing and thinking, when can we come back...
Breakfast somewhere at the Boardwalk or Yacht/Beach Club, and then time to take the car back to the airport and head on home. Do I have to go home. Even with the vacation not having yet started, I don't want to go home....
Need to convince the wife we should move closer!
