Am I correct that I can get my dd's first haircut at MK? Where exactly is it? And does anyone know how much it will cost, or where I can find that out? Do we need a reservation? She will be 12 months and one week when we are down there and I'm thinking of just doing some trimming to give her bangs and let us see her eyes again. :)

Thanks!

Main St Barbershop is open 7 days a week, 9am - 5pm.
No reservations, walk-ups only
$17 adults, $14 children, tips are welcome - price includes cut, color, pixie dust.

Enter MK on the left side of the train station and walk straight ahead, past city hall. The barbershop will be veer left, just after the firehouse and the barn.

When we got DS first haircut in 2001, we got a certificate and special mouse ears that said "first haircut". The Cm were great, no appointment needed (but it was in Sept so no crowds) and well worth the money for the pics and souveniers! :earsboy:

Ditto everything the PP listed.

We had our little one's first haircut done on 10/1. It was WONDERFUL. The barber will put the hair clippings in tissue with pixie dust and seal it with a sticker for your baby book. The little one also gets a certificate, special Mickey ears, and a thorough coating in stickers.

DS had his first haircut there and loved it. Michael was great with him and he really didn't know what was happening. I would definately recommend it for anyone.

I'm so glad I saw this post! My husband and I were just thinking that we need to get my daughter's hair cut soon. She's 19 months and aside from me trimming her bangs a couple of times she's never had a haircut. It's fine cause she's a girl and all so the length doesn't bother me, but it's starting to look like it should be cut. We had no idea where to go though, but we'll be back in WDW over Christmas so we can just wait and take her then! I had no idea that they saved the clippings and gave you a certificate and all that. That's so cute. If I did, we would have gone last week when we were there. Thanks everyone!

Price increased? It was $12.00 in January for both adults and child cuts.

They used about 50 Mickey stickers to keep my 1 year old entertained. They also used the "spinning mickey" toy that lights up. He loved it much we had to buy him one!

Go early, they don't take reservations first come, first serve. We went at 2pm and there was a line. Not bad, about 20 mins. But DH got his haircut first thing at 9am once, no line, in and out within 15 minutes.

My DS got his first cut there also when he was 9 mos old (he's a hairy monster and it was very hard to wait that long...he couldn't see by the time we cut it!) The barber was WONDERFUL! Lots of stickers both for DS and his sister. The hat is carefully preserved at home along with his hair and certificate. We went on the way back out of the park for naps and had about a 2 minute wait. One nice thing was that there were characters right outside to amuse his sister while he got his hair cut.

Sorry for hijacking the thread with a question, but.... :sunny:

Is there an age restriction for getting the first haircut? My dd is 3 and has never had her haircut - not even a trim! :earseek: I love the idea of getting her first haircut at MK when we go in December (DH is still hesitant though -"cut her hair?!?!?" :rotfl: and the price is great! I just wasn't sure if they would question us on the first haircut to get the mickey ears and certificate. Although her hair is almost down to her waist. It's thin though and doesn't seem that long! What do you guys think???

I don't think they'll question you, especially since your DD's hair is long. :flower:

Alyssa just had her first haircut at MK last week...it was a wonderful experience!

Amy :)

we just got our DD15 months her first haircut at disney. They were wonderful with her. We did just her bangs and they only charged us $5.00 they also gave us the first haircut mickey ears and the keepsake paper that the barber signed.

It's been $17 adults, $14 kids for months now. When we went in Jan05 it was already that price. We always go get the kids' haircuts when we go to WDW. It's become tradition for us.

As long as you tell them it is their first haircut, they don't seem to mind. Some people figure it is their first Disney haircut so they tell them even though thier child is 6-7 or above.

Thanks for the responses! :)

My other thought I had late last night when I was telling dh about this was it seems to be an awfully good price ($14) for that to include the mickey ears and certificate. Is it extra for those items or is it really just $14 for all of it?

Thanks guys!! I just don't want any surprises (of that kind anyway...)

No extra charge for the Mickey ears.
My 6-yr-old DD will be getting her third haircut at MK in a few weeks. She said she hoped Michael was still there. I hope he is too.
Does anyone know if he is still there?

Michal just cut Alyssa's hair on October 1st, so he's still there! :flower:

Does it have to be the first haircut to get it done there?

No, it doesn't have to be a first haircut. It is a regular barber shop. DH get's his haircut there every trip.

I didn't get the certificate and ears when DS got his haircut. She could tell by his hair that it wasn't his first cut. I was trying to fib a little to get all the attention but they were not buying it. DS has had about 9 haircuts in his first year. He has a full head of thick hair that's very obviously layed and parted to the side.

If it's not your child's first haircut but you want the ears and certificate, make sure their hair is very grown-out and does not look like it's ever been cut! :teeth:

Thanks, everyone. I have put it on our agenda. It is her actual first haircut, and her hair is down to her nose in the front. I was only going to have them cut the bangs anyway, so maybe we'll get the $5 deal, which would be fantastic! But I am willing to pay the $14 anyway, cause I think that's not a bad deal for the experience.

Michal did our son's first haircut last October, and he'll (hopefully) be the one to cut it again this November!!

Hands down...best deal anywhere at Disney!
