We've stayed in a first floor standard view and LOVED it. The first and second floor (lobby level) are very convenient. We love not having to use the elevators all the time.
FWIW, there is usually fairly thick landscaping (shrubs) around the ground floor patios - unless you feel comfortable walking through that to get to the pool, best to plan on using the hallway exit doors to get to and from the pool. The hallway doors to the outside are fairly plentiful around the pools and I'm sure there will be one near your unit.
Also, you cannot lock the sliders from the outside - so someone has to be in the room unless you are comfortable leaving the room unlocked while you are at the pool.
It is nice to be on ground floor - but keep in mind that lobby level is second floor.
I always try for a first floor pool view. I love the ability to walk right outside. Also, in the morning it's fun to be having a cup of coffee and have some ducks come by for a visit.
There are plenty of exit doors near the pools and access to the pools is quick and easy.
We stayed on the first floor, but standard view. We just loved it with kids, because you didn't have to deal with elevators all the time - you could just walk right out onto the boardwalk. This was especially nice at the end of the day when we were tired.
