Our 1st trip is 28 days away!!! I'm feeling confused about our 1st day plans however and could sure use some opinions. We will be getting up at 3:30 a.m. to make our flights, and will be arriving in Orlando at 11:00. Since we will be tired and I usually feel woozy for the whole day after flying, we don't want to do any wild rides, or go too far from BCV. We will be so excited to be there, and have park hopper passes for that first day, so I want us to go to either MGM or EP. I would really like us to see Osbourne lights that night if possible, but wonder if that will be too late of a night for arrival day. I don't know, can someone help me out??!! Oh, it's me (31),DH(37) and DD(5). THSNKS!!

Without knowing how many days total you have at WDW, I would comment thusly ...

Since it takes most people more time to cover Epcot than the Studios, and since Epcot has so many good resturants, I would recommend spending the evening enjoying a good meal at one of the World Showcase spots and strolling around the Showcase, going back to your room when it seems like time to retire for the night. I would save the rides in Future World for another day. (But if you do decide to do this, be sure to make an advance reservation for the eatery you wish to visit.

Enjoy.

Well, this would be my suggestion- If I was arriving at 11am and the room isn't ready, I would grab some lunch, and hang out at the resort pool. As soon as the room is ready, take a nap, then head over to MGM. Maybe grab some dinner before going to see the osborne lights. The nap will definetely help and you'll be able to enjoy MGM better. Now if you want to go directly to the parks, I don't recommend either MGM or Epcot. Instead, I'd go to AK. The reason for this is that AK usually closes at 5pm. At closing, you could return to the hotel and nap before a late dinner. Many people like to go straight to the parks and just go to attractions all day, therefore they'll be so tired they'll have trouble getting up the next morning for the next park. But since AK closes early, you have an excuse for some rest. Plus, you could do most of AK in that short amount of time. Epcot or MGM would take a lot more time and you'll have to go another day just to see the highlights. Good luck. Hope this helps.

Epcot is more geared to "non woozie" rides. At least half of Future World is calm and all of World Showcase. You're best bet might be to leisurely tour WS.

Oh I should have mentioned, we will be there 5 days.
day 1:?
day 2: MK
day 3: EP
day 4: MGM
day 5: AK
day 6:going home

I don't get the above reasoning here at all. They are arriving in Orlando at 11:00 am, and probably won't get into their room until 1:00 pm. IF transportation is quick from the airport to the resort, and IF they are able to check in quickly, and IF their room is ready at check in, and IF they don't want to unpack before going to a park. It would then take up to an hour to get from their resort to the Animal Kingdom, which closes at 5:00 pm. That means three hours at the Animal Kingdom, tops.

With a dinner reservation at Epcot, they could stroll around part of the World Showcase, and enjoy a meal before retiring for the night.

Makes much more sense to me.

Do you think it would be too much if we toured WS, had dinner at a CS there, then took the boat to MGM just to see Osbourne lights? The only night we have available to see Osbourne lights is the first night. Is it stupid to go there just to see that? Is it really that great? We live in Wisconsin, so seeing snow falling is nothing rare for us! My daughter sure likes Christmas decorations though. My first plan was get some lunch and then to let my daughter hang out at the pool when we first arrive (if it is nice out), then head over to MGM to see some shows and the parade, and finish up with Osbourne lights before heading back to the room. I like the idea better to go to W.S., since it is so close to BCV, and they have the countries decorated too. but I keep thinking about Osbourne lights and trying to fit it in! Thanks to everyone who replied!! Any more opinions?
