So it has been announced that 1 Direction will be performing live on the Today Show from Universal Citiwalk on 11/17. I have a 14 year old MEGA-FAN, who wants to be front row or as close to it as possible. I have booked us at Cabana Bay for the night of the 16th (special 1d wakeup calls, etc), wondering if anyone has any idea what time they will allow folks to be at Citiwalk for this (assuming live on the Today show means 7-9am for the concert time frame)? I definitely want to make sure we can get there in time for her to get as close up as possible.

I was coming on here to post the same thing. I have 2 fans 13 & 11 (and me!) and we have a room booked at Hard Rock. The lady on the phone wouldn't tell me much. All she said was that she was sure they wouldn't let people camp out overnight and that she didn't know how early they would let people line up. It does start at 7am. I am worried that even though it says people can't camp out they will do it outside the gates or something. I haven't decided 100% that we are going - I would hate to go all the way up there and not be able to get in. :( I guess we can just keep calling until they will give out more information?

We saw 1D twice this summer but I feel like this would be such a once in a lifetime thing that I would love to make it work.

I know a Universal employee who says they WILL close Citiwalk and the parking garage at 2am, NO one will be allowed to stay in at that point, but she hasn't heard what time they will reopen for folks to come in for this. Its a huge area so I would not be worried about getting in, but since my girl insists on right up front, I'm a bit stressed about it. We just saw them 10/3 here in Tampa, but she wasn't as close to the stage as she would like since I am NOT made of money, LOL. If I hear any updates from the employee I know, I will let you know, and hopefully someone in the know will reply here too. Otherwise, I am sure we are getting up at 3am with the plan to be at Citiwalk by 4am, and I am sure the busses/boats won't be running that early, so we'll expect to walk.

My girls are super excited about the 1D event. We booked Cabana Bay and are planning on being at City Walk at 4AM. I have a 14 year old and a 13 year old. Please share if you know any other details and if you want to meet up and walk together, just let me know.

Anyone know if the bus from Cabana will be running for the event or if valet will be open? I am not sure I feel safe walking with just my daughters since it will still be dark and I don't want to get stuck in a long line at the parking garage.

LITERALLY JEALOUS of all of you! GOOD LUCK camping out. Always wanted to see 1D live.

Even with the new information I can't figure out what time we can start lining up. Cars can park at 3am and city walk opens at 4am. What does that mean for people staying at the hotels? Can we line up outside city walk entrance earlier? I am guessing people will start a line along the paths you use to walk to city walk earlier than 4? If people in cars get to start their line at 3 I would guess others will too? Still confusing to me- don't want to go all the way up there and miss it.

I called Cabana Bay and their buses will start at 4am. I think that is too late. The girls and I are planning to drive over or walk over around 2:30am. I am hoping to get them a good spot up front!

I agree that the bus will be too late. Still don't know what time we will try to get over there - hoping they will give us more information when we get up there Sunday.

We are planning at going over around 3. I'm guessing that there will already be a like at that point. I wonder what universal will do with people attempting to line up at 3 or earlier.

We're back! We did take the busses from Cabana Bay, which started running at 3am, so that part worked out well. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't allow anyone on the grass or stairs area without the VIP pass, but were in zone 1 and had good view/sound for the sound check time @ 5:45ish, and then a little less of a view, but not too bad for the actual show @ 7:45ish, but then the speaker stopped working for the zone 1 area, so we left @ 8:20 and went back to the hotel, watched the end of it on the big screens. All in all, though, it was a good time, and my 14 year old said it was definitely worth it to stay up all night to go. She also really enjoyed the pool party on Sunday night at Cabana Bay where they played the entire new album.

Glad to hear it was mostly a success! Your daughter will never forget this. :)

Thanks, I agree it will definitely be a memory for she and I to share. Now I get to gear myself up for the Every Which Way event for my other child (she is 16 but autistic so emotionally young, she ADORES this show), gotta keep it even, though I am not as interested in seeing the characters of the show as 1D.

We did about the same thing you did. But we went back to the parks after a nap. My daughters had a blast in the Fanzone they had set up in Universal. Then yesterday my daughter was given special passes to go to a private concert tonight. My daughters are thrilled!
