Hi all. Just wondering the etiquette on this. In May I am going to Kidani and staying in a 1br. I am taking a friend, and it is my treat. DH is not going on this trip (that would make it easier) so I am not sure how to handle the who gets the bedroom versus the living room/sleeper sofa.

What do you guys think?

Thanks-Lisa. :goodvibes

Your treat, you get the King bed. I took my sister, and we stayed in a Studio. I paid for the room with our points, I slept in the queen bed she got the pull out sofa.

I hope your friend enjoys the sleeper-sofa.

:rotfl: Well, that is to the point! Thanks!

Thank you both for your responses. Of course, that is what I hoped to hear. I just wanted to avoid any hard feelings. Thanks! :cutie:

I think someone in another post said not even Jim Lewis can overturn the "Whoever pays the membership dues gets the bedroom" rule. :rotfl:

I'd tell your friend that you'd be risking your membership privileges if you were to offer the bedroom.

Wow Op --was there ever any question?!? :confused3:confused3

LOL even my brother and sis in law knew it wasn't even something to question. They weren't getting the master bedroom.

When I go with a girlfriend on HER points...if there is a pullout ... thats what I take....BUT in the instances that there is a king size bed then we share it...

Would your friend expect the master bedroom????? I hope not. I've slept on many of the sofas and they were fine.

I have treated friends many times and I always take the sofabed. It doesn't bother me at all. I am an early riser and sleeping in the living room means that I can be up and about without worrying about bothering my friends. I almost always book BWV and I find the sofabeds to be quite comfortable, although a litlle clumsy to get out of.

I kind of agree with this. Morning wake up times and habits should be a consideration. For instance, if you wake up earlier than your friend and want to make coffee, the sofa sleeper (or sleeper chair) would be the best.

When Mom & I went to OKW this December, she (of course) got the bedroom. I tried out the sleeper chair. It was comfortable, and had the advantage of being small enough to leave open, so I didn't have to fold it away every day, and we could still use the living room sofa and coffee table.

This is a good point to consider-as I am an early riser at Disney, at least. Thanks!

If your friend was staying at your house would you sleep on the sofa so she could sleep in your bed? Since it is your points (money) she should get the guest accommodations (i.e. the sleeper sofa).

I would just be sure that the friend knows what the sleeping accommodations are so she isn't expecting a regular bed and gets there to find the sofabed. We have had a couple sofa beds at OKW that were really uncomfortable due to the foam being broken down in the center section of the bed. We requested an eggfoam top and that did help.

I took a friend in October. We were in a studio and I insisted on taking the pullout. This was a short trip for us and she hadn't been to WDW in over 20 years. I wanted her to have a good experience and to have plenty of energy since this was a "commando" trip.

Has your friend ever been to Disney before? Make it magical for her and let her have the bed. You'll be back many more times.

When we have taken friends - 2 bedroom - we give our friends the master and we take the lock-off. However when our kids join us, we keep the master all to ourselves.

I would talk to the friend before the trip, maybe even before the trip was booked and discuss the sleeping arrangements. I'm thinking of inviting a couple to WDW, and I would be the only other. I think my DF's hubby has back issues. If it turns out that he needs the better bed, the king, then that's what I would give them. I've thought of getting 2 studios, but if it can work with the 1 bedroom, that's what I would prefer. It's a short trip and these are VERY good friends.

I use the same technique I perfected in college -- just roll out of the bed onto the floor, and stand up! The bruises heal.
