1994 seem like a long time ago?

Wow, I graduated high school in 1994....I guess I really am old now!

My DD8 doesn't believe that when I did papers in high school I had to physically go to the library to research things and looks things in newpapers by hand on microfilm. The world we grew up in is completely foreign to them.

Oh, and they are talking about the earthquake. I remember it well. I was teaching in LA and we were off school for over a week due to structural damage.

I didn't have internet then either! In fact, my computer didn't even have a modem! :rotfl2:

I didn't get internet until later in 1994 and into 1995 when I got married. My now husband had internet and I used his until I decided I wanted my own email address!

Ah, this brought back a lot of memories for me.

Dawn

WOW! DS was born in August of 1994. He will get such a kick out of this since he obviously doesn't remember a time without the Internet.

Oh geez... now I feel *really* old! Does no one remember BBS'ing??

I was online, chatting with people, e-mailing, online messaging, multi-player games back in the late 80's!

Went from an honours student to barely passing in one year! But I had a lot of fun. :goodvibes

Wow! I remember getting on-line in 1995.

But YES the quake comments were the most interesting for me! I was living in Santa Clarita (Canyon Country) and was 5 months pregnant, and teaching too! It was a crazy time. The 5/14 Highway interchange fell (again! - it did in the 1971 Sylmar quake too). My hubby was a structural engineer with LA county and had to go inspect houses in our area and post if they were condemned or not.

We were out of school for a while, and then when we were back in, there were so many aftershocks, I had the kids (jr. high) keep little numbered cards on their desks and hold them up to rate the aftershock like we were watching an olympic diving event. Had to do something to lighten it up!

What is amazing is that I only lived in the LA area twice in my life. 1970-73 (Sylmar quake) and 1988 -1994 - Northridge quake. We left in 1994 to come back to Colorado where I grew up. Teaching in an area where there were random acts of violence at the high school made me want to return with our newborn to my old high school area where nothing bad ever happens. Well, that didn't turn out so well either. But said newborn is a junior at Columbine, and we are happy to be in Colorado.

Wow -sorry for my long trip down memory lane.

Anyone remember Prodigy? I was working at Spiegel Catalog in the 80's-90's. I'll never forget when they put me on the team that had to handle "Prodigy" orders. My first thought was why would someone bother to order this way when they could pick up a phone and call a toll-free number. This was around the same time that we got a fax machine in our office. :lmao:

To this day, I still have no idea how either work but can't imagine life without them.

YES! I remember wanting to go over to my friend's house all the time so we could play on Prodigy. Trying to explain to my parents what Prodigy is was a treat back then...they just couldn't wrap their head around it...much like Katie & Bryant in that clip!
