My Nephew Kieran (12)
And dd Maddie (MaddieB)

Tuesday 19th October 2010
This morning we planned on going to Universal Studios but we were a bit too leisurely with our breakfast and didn’t leave the villa until 9.30. To our surprise, the traffic along Ponciana Boulevard was very heavy and just crawled all the way up to the 192. Mandy and I had swapped cars today so we could take advantage of the free parking with our annual passes. Apparently, Mandy chattered non-stop the whole way there. Tony and Maddie aren’t used to that! We usually listen to the radio and only talk now and then! Tony said she must have been breathing through her bum because she never paused for breath!

Anyway, we were at the entrance to Universal Studios not long after 10 am, so not too bad.

The park was very Halloweeny:

We headed, as always, to the back of the park first and started queuing for The Simpsons ride. Universal, we discovered, is not very good at assessing wait times. The “20 minute” wait at The Simpsons was actually twice that and Jaws was the same.

By the time we had done those two, and then Men in Black (Highest score –me – I just love shooting games), it was lunchtime.
We headed to Finnegans, which was new to Tony, me and Maddie.
We all chose different entrees and all enjoyed it.

For dessert we all had little dessert shots except Kieran who had a “Build your own Sundae” which he loved. The total bill including annual pass discount and tip, which was automatically added as there was 7 of us, was $124.

After lunch we worked our way around the park doing almost everything. Wait times varied from no wait at all to 20 minutes (for The Mummy).

Tony being a mummy:

We finished the afternoon at Terminator, where we discovered we were standing next to Charlie Dimmock in the queuing area. She was with a group of people from “Dreamflight”, a charity which takes sick children on holiday. Both helpers and children looked like they were having a fabulous time.

After Universal, we headed to Prime Outlets for a little shopping!
The boys and Peter were quickly bored with that though, so made their way back to the villa for a swim, while Mandy stayed with us. We shopped Mandy off her feet! She has no stamina for shopping!

We looked in some of the clothes stores, but didn’t buy anything and found the Gourmet Chef shop and the Yankee Candle outlet store and bought a few things, but were mindful of our meagre luggage allowance and didn’t go too mad.

We met up with Peter and the boys at Denny’s and had a variety of omelettes, breakfasts and burgers between us, with Kieran being the only one of us who could fit in a dessert – another “Build your own sundae”! Total bill for all of us – just $58 plus tip! It was all very good too.

We went back to the villa for an earlyish night as we had been on our feet all day.

Tomorrow – Magic Kingdom and an exciting phone-call from home!

A good day again :thumbsup2 . Lunch was a good price for 7 of you .

Saw Charlie Dimmock at Typoon Lagoon doing exactly the same thing a couple of years ago in October Half Term ..... such a worthy cause xxx

Isn't the new weight limit a drag, I decided not to take enough clothes so I had to buy some out there!

And thankyou very much for the reminder to take a change of clothes with me to IOA!! had forgotten quite how wet those rides get you eeks. Actually best to just put a poncho over and around my mum, she'll go spare if her hair gets wet:lmao:
really enjoying the report:hug:

Great day. I really like the Halloween decorations at Universal. I think DBF and I are finally going to make it to a HHN next year. :scared1:

Just as well she's not a member here and won't be reading these boards. Wait a minute, though... :scratchin :scared1:

Owwwww she knows, but I didn't put it as politely as that.

I know what you mean about the published waiting times in Universal. They are highly unreliable.

Mmm I love Denny's omelettes :yay:
