Tuesday 19th October 2010
This morning we planned on going to Universal Studios but we were a bit too leisurely with our breakfast and didnt leave the villa until 9.30. To our surprise, the traffic along Ponciana Boulevard was very heavy and just crawled all the way up to the 192. Mandy and I had swapped cars today so we could take advantage of the free parking with our annual passes. Apparently, Mandy chattered non-stop the whole way there. Tony and Maddie arent used to that! We usually listen to the radio and only talk now and then! Tony said she must have been breathing through her bum because she never paused for breath!
Anyway, we were at the entrance to Universal Studios not long after 10 am, so not too bad.
The park was very Halloweeny:
We headed, as always, to the back of the park first and started queuing for The Simpsons ride. Universal, we discovered, is not very good at assessing wait times. The 20 minute wait at The Simpsons was actually twice that and Jaws was the same.
By the time we had done those two, and then Men in Black (Highest score me I just love shooting games), it was lunchtime.
We headed to Finnegans, which was new to Tony, me and Maddie.
We all chose different entrees and all enjoyed it.
For dessert we all had little dessert shots except Kieran who had a Build your own Sundae which he loved. The total bill including annual pass discount and tip, which was automatically added as there was 7 of us, was $124.
After lunch we worked our way around the park doing almost everything. Wait times varied from no wait at all to 20 minutes (for The Mummy).
Tony being a mummy:
We finished the afternoon at Terminator, where we discovered we were standing next to Charlie Dimmock in the queuing area. She was with a group of people from Dreamflight, a charity which takes sick children on holiday. Both helpers and children looked like they were having a fabulous time.
After Universal, we headed to Prime Outlets for a little shopping!
The boys and Peter were quickly bored with that though, so made their way back to the villa for a swim, while Mandy stayed with us. We shopped Mandy off her feet! She has no stamina for shopping!
We looked in some of the clothes stores, but didnt buy anything and found the Gourmet Chef shop and the Yankee Candle outlet store and bought a few things, but were mindful of our meagre luggage allowance and didnt go too mad.
We met up with Peter and the boys at Dennys and had a variety of omelettes, breakfasts and burgers between us, with Kieran being the only one of us who could fit in a dessert another Build your own sundae! Total bill for all of us just $58 plus tip! It was all very good too.
We went back to the villa for an earlyish night as we had been on our feet all day.
Tomorrow Magic Kingdom and an exciting phone-call from home!
