Has anyone done a disney vacation after Xmas? We are thinking of going Dec 26- Jan2 with DD who is non-verbal, non-mobike and in a wheelchair. I went May 2001 but we were jet lagged and rushed due to overseas death in family before trip.
Wondering about crowds? parking?
Also has anyone stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree?

I've always wanted to see Disney at Christmas, but so far it hasn't happened. I believe that the week between Christmas and New Years is one of the busiest weeks of the year. Maybe someone else can confirm that?

I think that since the week after Christmas is still Holiday rates, you can assume that it is very busy after Christmas. Value Season begins on January 1. It has, in the past, slowed down considerably. My dream is to hit WDW before Christmas sometime!

We were at WDW from Dec15-27,2001. The week before Christmas was slow everywhere - WDW, Universal and Seaworld. We got so much done in 1 day with no or minimal lines.

Christmas Day was on Tuesday and it really did not get busy until the day before. If you are willing to go early to the parks and then go back in the evenings Christmas Day onward were fine. On the 26th we were surprised at how few people were at MK in the evening. We went to the later parade and we were about the only ones in Liberty Square.

Christmas at WDW was wonderful- I'd definitely do it again. My teenagers did miss Christmas at home however- our first Christmas away.

We were at WDW from Dec 31/00 to Jan 9/01 and again from Dec 21/01-Dec 31/01. (Had to get 2 trips in on those APs, dontcha know. :D )

To echo Dumbo's comments regarding crowds, on our most recent trip we got everything done we wanted to do between Dec 21st and 26th - I, too, was surprised at how light the crowds were. All that changed on the 27th, though. It seems as if half of North America descended on Florida that day and it was literally wall-to-wall people for the remainder of our stay. With the judicious use of fast-passes and doing minor attractions (my son and I both love "Sounds Dangerous" at MGM) we were able to minimize our waits in line. But many of the standby lines were over 2 hours and the FPs were often gone by late morning.

The year before, it stayed busy until around Jan 6 or so, and then the crowds really thinned out for our last couple of days.

It was nice to see the decorations up for the holidays, but I don't think we'd ever stay between Christmas and New Years again. (It's kind of like shingling our roof - it was an experience to have done it once, but once is enough, thank you very much.)

As Debbie says - if you want to see all the holiday decorations and trappings, go during the first couple of weeks of December. It's one of the slower times of the year, and WDW starts putting up their decorations after US Thanksgiving at the end of November. You could also go in early January, but usually the Christmas decorations and festivities usually end by the first week in January.

We go every year for two weeks -- Christmas Week and New Year's Week. I can tell you that it's always very busy both of those weeks -- crowds galore. This year we are planning to go for three weeks (the two mentioned above, plus the week after New Year's Week, coming home on Jan. 10) and we plan to do most of our park visits during that final week, when the crowds die down.

Having said that, note I mentioned that we nevertheless go down for Christmas and New Year's every year -- the crowds don't stop us. There seems to be an extra bit of holiday excitement and Disney Magid in the air during that time, and we wouldn't miss it for the world!
