1900 vs. Ohana Breakfast

I'm looking for a breakfast that is not in a park. I have my choices down to 1900 and O'Hana. It will be my DH and 2 sons 10 & 8 and myself. None of us are picky eaters and we love all things breakfast.

My kids weren't thrilled by O'Hana for dinner last year, but Lilo and Stitch are appealing. I am leaning towards 1900, but I want to make sure it's not to "girly."

I'm also thinking of doing Kona for dinner one night. The menu appeals to me, and it would be nice not to have a buffet for a change. There's something on that menu that would satisfy everyone in my family. Any input into Kona for dinner? Our other choices that night would be Tony's or the Plaza.

1900 PF won't be too girly for breakfast..... they've got Alice / Mad Hatter and Mary Poppins / Bert and Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. It was alot of fun... the Mad Hatter is WONDERFUL !!! the food is pretty typical of any of the buffets... we enjoyed it alot. ( the lobster benedict was yummy!!)

We like 'Ohana best for breakfast. To me, the food is better and the atmosphere is better. Also, the character interaction is better. Stitch played with my daughter one time, and she loved it. I love the welcome bread and the special juice. The fresh fruit and eggs and sausage have always been good, too. It just seems like a warm, friendly place at breakfast time.

I have been disappointed in 'Ohana at dinner, too. The side dishes have always been good, but the service has been poor and the the meat is often tough, with a weird flavor. Plus, the parade is a little noisy for me. I had one really good meal here back in 2003, and then, in subsequent years, it hasn't been as good.

1900 Park Fare is fine. I do not particularly like the room where it is held. It seems cold to me (both in temperature and in environment--almost bland). We did have fun with the Mad Hatter and Alice one time. The food is good--not great, but it is good. Truthfully, for me, the restaurant just lacked warmth and heart. It seemed so big and sterile and cold.

Totally agree with this--it just seems like a random hotel banquet room. I was hoping for something with a little more character (pardon the pun ).

He requested that we never go back. Lol. I bit into his meatball and had to spit it out into a napkin. Gross. My chicken parm was equally gross. Our salads were wilted. Service was bad. Awful! I'd recommend Crystal Palace, Plaza, or Liberty Tree for dinner. Or yes, definitely Kona!!! Great choices.

I love Ohana. Very warm and beautiful atmosphere. Mickey/Pluto/Stitch are all wonderful. we saw them twice when we were there!! I loved the pineapple bread and special juice they have. The food is wonderful. All you can eat! And its so relaxing. the food comes to you!

I've been there for dinner, havent tried breakfast. But im very excited to eat breakfast with the mad hatter in august! woohoo!

We've always eaten at "ohanas on our last day - we pack our stuff, put it in storage, then head over to see Stitch... dd is now 14, but Pluto and Stitch have always prodded DH, surprised us, and interacted in a fun, loving, silly way! DD doesnt participate in the parades - but she truly enjoys the spirit of Stitch!

We also like the fact they bring the food to you!

However, this trip, we are going to try 1900 - I think there are more food choices, and dh loves Salmon - so this is the trip we are "mixing" it up a bit!

also note for Ohana - they seat a whole section at one time - for that reason you will see lines outside waiting to be seated, and looking in the restaurant you will see empty tables - this is what ensures that great character interaction imho - so we always go our last day when we are relaxed

I'm not a fan of Stitch so my vote is for 1900 PF.

We love both breakfast and dinner there!

We've done both several times and prefer 'Ohana. We just prefer the family style way that they serve the food. It seems hotter and fresher served the way they do. We like all the characters at both places and they all are hit or miss depending on who is in character that day.
Both meals can take a long time depending on the rotation of characters, so we always plan accordingly.

I've always felt the way a few posted do about the warmth of the 1900 PF space, but never have never said it to anyone before, so I'm glad to see I'm not alone. A nice nursing home cafeteria comes to mind Sorry, no flames please, but it's exactly what my mom's place looked like.

I do love the chilled strawberry soup though!

II've decided on Kona for sure.

I'm still torn on breakfast. We all like the variety of a buffet (lobster benedict-really?! yum!), but Stitch sounds fun. I love Mary Poppins, and the boys would like the Mad Hatter. Alice would embarrass my 10yr old

My husband just piped in and voted for 1900 and since he rarely expresses a food opinion, I think we'll give it a try.

I have never been to the ohana breakfest so i can't say anything about it but I absoulutely love the 1900 breakfest! It is in the grand floridian and it feels so classy, I love it! The food is delicious as well (at least i think so). The characters are a weird combination but they are so much fun. The mad hatter in particular is hillarious!
