on our vacation 2 years ago, we booked a restuarant on the dining plan. We took the boat over and Im almost certain it was 1900 PF. When we got there we told them we were on the dining plan and she asked if we were staying at the hotel and we said no and she said the dining plan was only accepted for those staying at the hotel. Is this still true?

I just made a reservation when I seen it popped up and then started back tracking.

Thats absolute rubbish. I was there last week! And the year before! And we never had issues using the dining plan there.

You can only book dining plan if you are have a MYW package and staying at a Disney resort. You can book any restaurant if you are paying OOP and staying on or off site. Now if you took the boat over, was it the restaurant right at the dock? If so, that was Narcossees. And Park Fare is in Main Building.

I'm not quite sure what you are asking. Were you staying at any Disney resort? Maybe that was what she was asking. You can only get the DDP if you are staying at one of the Disney resorts. You can use the dining plan at any resort that accepts the dining plan. You don't have to be staying at that particular resort to use the DDP at their restaurant. For example, if you are staying at the Contemporary, you can take the monorail over to the GF and eat at 1900 PF and use the DDP. We do this every trip. It sounds like you were confused about what the cm was asking you.

Yeah, we were staying at ASM. I just remember we had to get on a boat and go to the resort, then we had to walk down this looooong tube like hall into the restaurant..the hostess was standing at the desk and asked if we were had reservations and we said yes, she took our name and then asked if we were staying at THAT hotel. We said no we were at ASM and she said that we must have a reservation at that hotel to use the dining plan. Perhaps it wasnt 1900..Im going to have to dig through and see for sure. I just started panicking. Ive never made ressies at Narcossees

Well in order to get to the GF you do not need to take a boat (although you can) and there is not a long tube like hall to get into 1900 Park Fare so I'm thinking that is not it.

Perhaps she said are you staying at the resort (meaning the WDW resort). 1900 Park Fare does accept the dining plan and is 1 TS credit. You can find a list of participating restaurants online.

Just found in my old mail folder..it was the Garden Grove at the Disney Swan and Dolphin. I was reading the terms and it doesnt say anything about having to stay at that hotel.

I wonder if I got rooked that night. It was such a terrible night. We were so looking forward to it and got shut down at the door. We felt like 2nd class citizens.

Thank you! I was worried..but knowing you were there a week ago, that makes me feel better..

BTW...has anyone ever told you that you have a striking resemblence to Angelina Jolie???

As far as I know, neither the Swan nor the Dolphin participate in the Disney dining plan as they are not Disney owned resorts.

Garden Grove doesn't accept the DDP. Were you trying to book the Garden Grill? Maybe the hostess was trying to explain that only Swan/Dolphin guests could charge to their rooms, since KTTM cards aren't accepted either.
