Tell me a little about this - I have never heard of Strawberry Soup before! Do they serve this just for breakfast or does it also make an appearance for dinner?

1900 Park Fare was not a restaurant choice for me this year (since it's my first trip, we decided to try to get CRT ressies), but do you think it would be worth it to make ressies?

You're going during free dining - I'd say you should definitely make reservations if you want to go.

So far, the places that I have planned to eat are:

MK Days:
Crystal Palace Breakfast
CRT Breakfast
Chef Mickey Dinner
Ohana Dinner
(there is one more morning that I could do breakfast at MK, but I've also never seen rope drop, and my take on rope drop is that you need to be there about 30 min prior to 9am)

EP Day:
Akershus Breakfast
Coral Reef Dinner

AK Day:
Tusker House Breakfast

DHS Day:
Going to try to get Fantasmic Dinner Package - probably with Mama Melrose

As it is....I am already going to pay oop for CRT as I only have 7 table services. Any suggestions???? Do you think I should switch one of them for Park Fare? If so, which one would you suggest???? :confused3

I would definately replace Mama Melrose with 1900 PF.:thumbsup2

I have only had the strawberry soup at Dinner. It is heavenly. It is a cold cream based soup that is the best thing I have ever tasted. The last time we went I mainly had strawberry soup. It makes my DH laugh.
I have tried a couple of times to make it at home and have not been successful.
We will be doing (I hope) 1900 Park Fare again this summer because I really want more Strawberry soup!!!!!!!:rotfl:

That is the current recipe. The old recipe was much better (but more expensive to make).

DISNEY'S GRAND FLORIDIAN BEACH RESORT

STRAWBERRY SOUP

INGREDIENTS:

16 oz Strawberries (frozen variety, thawed with juice and pureed)
16 oz Sour Cream
1 Tbls Lemon Juice (frozen variety, reconstituted, not concentrated)
2 Tbls Vanilla Extract
3 oz Sifted Powdered Sugar (by cup measure)
1 Tbls Grenadine Syrup
2 oz Half-and-Half

METHOD OF PREPARATION:

Mix strawberries and sour cream, beat slowly until well mixed. While mixing, add grenadine, lemon juice, vanilla extract and sugar until a smooth consistency. Add half-and-half and mix for five seconds. Chill, shake well before serving. Fresh strawberry halves may be added as a garnish.

I would second that...unless you are set on a table service in HS.

I make the Strawberry Soup at home too...it is that good!

It is one of my favorite things I have eated at WDW, on both of our previous trips!!!

We went in 2005 for the Cindy and friends dinner, and really enjoyed it. The strawberry soup was the BEST!!

I love it also..very good.We always go to park fare for breakfast each trip and I always get the soup...:thumbsup2

The Strawberry Soup is served at breakfast too.
This was a favorite morning meal for our family.
Love the strawberry soup, yuuuummmmm!!

I really like the strawberry soup and I wasn't expecting to. To me it tasted like a smooth strawberry shortcake, though not as sweet. I tried the soup as an "appetizer" before my real food but honestly, I preferred it for dessert.
