1900 Park Fare Reservation Only? Really?

I called to make an ADR for 1900 Park Fare for the one day of our trip that we did not have a meal planned. Nothing was available. I asked the reservationist if we could just walk up and wait for a table. She said 1900 Park Fare is a reservation only restaurant. I have not heard this before, and it seems odd. Is it true? Is this true for any other Disney restaurants?

Thank You!

Most of the character dining are by reservation. You may try the walk-up. You may get lucky, but you may have a long wait. Keep trying to call and make the ADR. People cancel frequently.

I haven't heard that but I'd believe it. It took me weeks of calling over and over last year to get it.

Probably true. I just made my ADR's this morning at 6 am. THis was the first I tried for as it was the most important to me for my DD's birthday. It was completely booked the days I wanted to I had to flip a few things to get it, and not even at the time I wanted...

I didn't know this about PF but we did run into this a few years back at Garden Grill. I tried to make ADRs one day while we were at Epcot. The CM at the podium said they don't make any ADRS for the same day. 24 hours. required. Don't know if it's still the same. :confused3

I know that the 24 time frame is not true. On our Dec. 08 trip we got ADRs to Cape May, 1900 Park Fare and O'hanna by calling the morning we were looking to eat there and actually had a choice of times. It actually worked out quite well.

In May I was at WDW with my 17 year old daughter and her 16 year old friend and my 50 year old childless male friend. As we entered the MK, he immediately went to the reservation area and asked what they had available. We ended up with 1900 reservations at 8PM.

I thought the girls would hate it being older teens with a Cinderella theme. We all loved it.

I called the day of and was told no. My daughter and I were hungry, and so we just trekked over and asked for a table. The man looked at me like I had three heads when I told him I didn't have a reservation. We were seated within 10 minutes. Maybe it was just :wizard:

I was only talking about Garden Grill. Not those you mentioned. I too have gotten ADRs on the same day but specifically I was told by CM at GG that they would not make ADRS there for the same day. Sorry for your confusion. I never entended for those reading to think I meant all restaurants.

Sorry, I didn't read it that way :flower3:. I know that the Garden Grill is very difficult to get, more so now that they are not serving lunch. I was only able to grab one for our upcoming trip after weeks of trying, even Le Cellier was not that bad.

Generally speaking, Disney OVERBOOKS ADRs at their restaruants - anticipating a certain number of no-shows. You can just show up. You may get lucky, some people do. If someone cancels, if there are more no-shows than Disney estimated, if the CM at the front desk feels like squeenzing your in - they will seat walkups. But generally speaking, walking up is a poor strategy - particularly if the restuarant is remotely out of the way or if you have promised your children the meal.
