My friend and are visiting Orlando in August. We won't be visiting the parks but we'd like to go for a Disney meal at one of the resorts. The idea of Chef Mickey was suggested which I am all for, but 1900 Park Fare is also an option. Which would you go for? Why?

Also, should we do breakfast or dinner?

I'd base it on which characters you'd like to see. Chef Mickey's has Mickey, Minnie, Goofy & Pluto and 1900 Park Fare has the Cinderella characters.

We've done dinner at 1900 Park Fare and breakfast at Chef Mickey's and thought the food was excellent at both. :)

I would go for dinner and since you can only do one meal and you won't be at the parks, I would do Chef Mickey's. You will see Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip, Dale, Pluto.

I was thinking the same thing, it all depends on the characters. I have never had 1900 Park Fare but I have had dinner at Chef Mickey's several times and I have loved it every time! It has a great atmosphere and the food is excellent.

I'm fairly indifferent as to which characters we'd see, either set would be fine.

My family and I have had dinner a few times at Chef Mickey's and each time was great, so that's what I would recommend.

Chef Mickey's all the way. It's the best Disney resturant to feel the feeling of Disney! Love that resturant it's a mucst do. :)

I'd say Chef Mickey's, if you can get an ADR at this point.

I couldn't - nothing available for a party of 2 for breakfast OR dinner from dinner on August 18th to breakfast on August 21st.

I managed to get 1900 Park Fare, nothing for dinner on those dates but got breakfast for the 19th August. :thumbsup2

So what's 1900 Park Fare like for breakfast?! :confused3

We love it there. Goodfood, good character interaction, the omelettes are good which you wouldn't get at CM

Another one that is good is Cape May Cafe at the BC, sometimes you can get ADRs easier since it is a little out of the way.

I had dinner at Chef Mickey's in 2002 and wasn't inpressed with either the food or the Contemporary. I had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare in 2002 and dinner in 2006, and the food was very good. But as others have said, if you prefer Mickey and Minnie, then go to Chef Mickey's.

We just did Chef Mickey for breakfast this last trip, and did Park Fare for dinner both trips (2006 and this one). They are each WONDERFUL, but if you want to see Mickey then it's an easy pick. Food was great at both, buffet, all you can eat, and table time with the characters was equal. So it really comes down to who you want to see more...Mickey or Cindy:)

Thanks guys, I'm more of a dinner person but that's probably because we don't have very good breakfasts here in the UK (unless you count a fry-up). I'm quite excited about doing breakfast because we don't have pancakes, waffles, bagels etc. over here! My friend was okay with not being able to get Chef Mickey's.

We went in Jan of this year and we did both chef mickey and 1900 (among many other character meals). i have to say i think 1900 was the best out of all of them. The food was very, VERY good. the characters were AWESOME!!!!!!! the step sisters and lady tremain were HYSTERICAL!!! My parents were with my daughter and i and my far 1900 was there fav. They are VERY picky about food and usually don't like buffets. But they both loved it! And they totally agreed about the characters.

I have to say with chef mickeys the interaction was very fast and rushed. i found the food to me so-so. I agree that it is sort of an ironic disney ecperience. But we are going back this December and i didn't even consider going this trip.

we always go to 1900 Park Fare's breakfast, we love the decor and the characters and the food. They have lobster eggs benedict which was great! They also have the dessert area open for a little sundae at the end of your meal, if you can fit it in. We're going to Chef Mickey's for the first time on our next trip, i cant wait to see that dessert bar!
