1900 Park Fare/GF Cafe Question

Bump..... :surfweb:
I would realy like to know how this is now. I don't think I am going to change it, but I would like to know what I'm in for.

I called yesterday, 7/15 and tried to change it for our night of the 26th of august, but there is nothing available anywhere for a decent time with kids in the magic kingdom resort area that night, they did have trails end at the campground, but we are eating there our last night. I have a feeling that iit is going to be a busy time this year in the last week of august, last year was not busy. only time will tell. good luck to all I have decided to keep it, a meal is a meal and again it is for the kiddies.

I can't wait to see what will be served!!!! I am thinking of changing one of my ADR's over if there is anything still available, I'm just holding out to see what we'll be eating!!!

Please see the thread I started about answers to these questions. Also keep in mind that the people that make dining reservations often aren't as informed as they should be. Before you jump to any conclusions about menus and things like that, call the restaurants directly.

I'm waiting for a b'fast review! We have an ADR for late September.

THanks for the updated menu. It looks good to me, much better kids choices. (I've pasted it here for those watching this thread:
Correct Park Fare menu from CM that works there

Okay, seriously, here is the actual menu that is being served at GFC. How do I know this?? I am a server there and I have been serving this food all week.

Adults:
Appetizers:

Mushroom Triangoli - Mushroom raviolis in a mushroon broth topped with shredded vegetables.

Spicey Shrimp over Grit Cake - Shrimp sauteed in a chipotle cream sauce served over a parmesan grit cake accompanied with wilted spinach.

Strawberry Soup - this is the famous Park Fare chilled strawberry soup. It tastes like melted strawberry ice cream.

MIxed Green Salad - a mix of gourmet greens, (lola rosa, boston bib and frisse) held together with a thin slice of cucumber and drizzled with homemade raspberry viniagrette.

Soup of the day

Dinner:
Chicken Breast - Pan seared airline breast (has small wing bone in it) served with au gratin potatoes and asparagus with a red wine sauce.

Prime Rib - Slow roasted prime rib served with mashed potatoes and broccolini (a hybrid of broccoli and kale that produces a sweeter, less woody tasting broccoli)

Salmon Napoleon - Grilled Salmon served on a polenta cake with wilted spinach and a lemon caper butter sauce.

Shrimp and prosciutto penne pasta - Shrimp and prosciutto (salty, thin sliced ham) in an asiago cream sauce with asparagus.

Herb marinted tofu - Herb marinated tofu served over a mixture of stewed vegetables with a feta stuffed tomato on the side topped with balsamic drizzle.

Smoked Pork - Smoked pork served with cheesey gnocci and red cabbage.

Childrens menu:

Appetizers
mixed green salad - spring greens with tomato and carrots and ranch dressing.

Fruit cup - cantalope, honey dew, and grapes

Chicken noodle soup

Carrots and celery with ranch

Dinner:

Prime rib - same as adult, just smaller portion

Grilled chicken or salmon - served with brown rice and broccoli

Cheese or chicken pizza

Beef and Macaroni

Dessert:
Bread Pudding

Assorted desserts - carrot cake, chocolate mousse, fruit tart, key lime creme brulee, raspberry horns.
Thanks. By the way is pre-plated here a "one shot deal" or can there be seconds?

My crew will be very happy with this menu. :dance3: Thanks for posting it!

Looks like a keeper to us as well. Not that we probably could have gotten a res anywhere else at this point anyway, LOL.

Seriously though, if they stick with this, my wife and I, along with our daughter, will be VERY happy. Now, just tell me it has all you can eat dessert. :goodvibes

Me too! We are going 8/22. The character interaction was so wonderful here last August that I wanted to try it again for a late breakfast.
Is that with the DDA meet? You'll have to let me know how it is!

On our own for this meal. We're doing the meet for dinner at H&V on the 23rd.

We did this breakfast last Aug with an 11:10 ADR. We were one of the last sittings. After about 1/2 an hour there were only about 4 tables of guests left and the characters kept coming back to us. They were great! Pooh drew a picture for my oldest who LOVES Pooh. We had Wendy greeting outside. She was great she told the kids that she and Peter Pan were teaching Pooh how to fly and that it was really quite a site seeing big ole rolly polly Pooh flying. We had Pooh, Tigger, Mary Poppins and Alice at the meal.

This year we have an 11:25 ADR. I'm sure the food will be fine and I'm looking forward to the characters again!

We just got back yesterday and still "high" on the Disney magic...we did eat here on Wednesday 7/18 for dinner...I will give you what I think of it but please keep in mind that I am "hard to please" when it comes to food, and this doesn't mean I am a connoisseur or anything, just your regular "picky eater"….:rolleyes1

There were 6 of us, 4 adults 2 children…

We were seated at a wonderful table right near the window which was bright and plesant. We were seated very quickly and the characters were already circulating, although Cinderalla and Prince Charming didn't come to our table until the end of our meal. I like the character meals where they bring the food to your table instead of the buffet where you have to estimate when you can go up and get your food without missing any of the characters…so that part was nice. :)

I ordered the Strawberry soup, which was delicious, and rich. The rest of the adults in my party order the salad which they found tasty. For the kids I ordered the mixed green salad & Carrots and celery with ranch, this was mid week and by then they were not too impressed by the apps anymore as they are pretty much standard at all the TS restaurants.

For my main course I ordered the Prime Rib along with my father in law, while my mom and husband ordered the salmon. I found the prime rib was served luke warm was a bit salty and undercooked (I did order medium rare, and usually do, but this was too rare). I only took a couple of bites because it wasn’t that good, and I was on the dinning plan, so I knew that if you didn’t like one meal there would be plenty more food in about an hour in the form of a snack etc… My father in law who also ordered the prime rib thought it was definitely sub par as well (and he is a big prime rib fan). The mash potatoes were also luke warm and yes like a “bad” girl I didn’t eat my veggies, so I can’t comment on that part.

My husband and mother both ordered the salmon. They liked it well enough and it wasn’t the “best” salmon on the trip but they ate all of it and most of the sides that came with it.

The kids and I’ll have to double check on this I don’t have the menu in front of me as I am at work…shhh….:surfweb: Had the pasta (plain with butter…) my oldest is even pickier than I am... or this is the meal where she had the cheese pizza but didn't like the sauce and thus just ate the cheese and gave the rest to the younger one, who will eat just about anything, so she ate it all up and her meal too…which was either the chicken or the fish. They both were pretty happy with this meal.

The dessert came out as a bunch of bite size mini desserts and they were a big hit at our table, especially the little chocolate desserts with the edible Mickey Mouse on them.

The entire meal took longer than i planned which was about a hour and a half by the time we sat down till the time we left.

Overall we went mostly for the characters and not for the food quality. I would say the food quality is more of a buffet brought to your table quality rather than table service quality that you would find if you ate at Coral Reef or Le Cellier etc.. I would have been more upset with this restaurant if I had paid OPP instead of just one credit on the dinning plan. The restaurant itself is beautiful and plenty of light comes in. The character interaction was good, the fairy godmother was the best, but Cinderella and Prince Charming came together and seemed a bit rushed. In the end we got what we came for, a meeting with Cinderella (albeit brief) a picture with her and prince charming and some character interaction with the mice and the fairy godmother.

Thank you for the review. We have an ADR there for DDs 1st birthday. I wanted a princess meal without having to shell out 2 credits for the castle.

Thanks, vassar36! I am so glad you had a great trip. I really appreciate all the details in your review. Thanks for taking the time to post it so quickly after your return. I can just hardly stand the wait until our trip in September. :cloud9: We are really looking forward to this dinner with Cindy and Prince Charming! And it sounds like the other characters were even better than them!

Thanks again, can't wait to hear more - and see some pics! :goodvibes

thank you for the review, it is our first night there and cant wait to start the magic in four long weeks. hope you had a disney dream last night. we are also going for the characters and know that there will be plenty of food for the rest of the week. my scale will also know that.

Vassar, I have been so eager to hear a review for this meal that I you were in my thoughts yesterday. Thank you for taking a few minutes out of your first day back at work (shhh! not too loud). The strawberry soup sounds interesting. Is it like a dessert? I might have to get it so my children can eat it. My husband and I don't eat prime rib or salmon. We will probably be having the chicken or pasta entree. I am also going for the character interaction and a relaxing meal on our first day after a long day of travel. I don't think the length of the meal will bother me. Thank you Thank you! Looking forward to hearing more from others.
