Making ADR's tomorrow, and I'm concerned about 1900 PF since the re-opening. My mom really wants to go here for her birthday dinner. I keep reading that the new characters are great but the food is terrible. Could somebody please enlighten me - what, exactly, is so terrible about the food? The updated menu looks okay. Is it not as stated? (for instance, I see that the strawberry soup is on the dinner menu, but I've read twice that there was no strawberry soup there). Please, if you've eaten since here since the renovation, could you post some specifics about what was so bad? So many people have said they couldn't find anything they liked, but what I want to know is, what didn't you like, and why?

I just returned yesterday from WDW. We did the 1900 Park Fare breakfast on Friday a.m. I thought it was great. They had an omelet station, french toast, carving stations, breads, fruit, bread pudding, are just a few to name. I thought everything tasted great. We got to see Alice, Mary Poppins, Mad Hatter, Tigger, etc. We really enjoyed it. I wouldn't bypass it on your ADR. Good luck!

i would to hear about dinner? What changed so much to make it bad reviews lately, we went last year and thought it was fine? Did they change what is served at dinner?

That's what I'm wondering too? It used to get such great reviews for dinner, and now everyone's saying it's terrible. What's so different?

Thank you so much Kidinme for your reply. I'm considering doing it for breakfast instead of dinner, maybe.

Well, i am doing dinner at 1900 on Monday 11/19 - so when i get back i can give you the details.. We ate here about 9 years ago (wow... was it really THAT long ago!!?) and we enjoyed it..

We just returned from DW and had dinner at 1900 Park Fare on Sunday, November 11th.

We loved it.

The food was good, standard buffet items, everything we ate was very good and we all left stuffed! There was definately strawberry soup. My girls both loved it and our server was so nice she gave them each a copy of the recipe. The dessert items are excellent so if you go, make sure you save some room!!!;) The characters were also great. Lady Tremain and the step-sisters were so funny! We were all laughing. Cinderella and Prince Charming danced around the dining room (but if you want a pic of this take it quick, the dance doesn't last long).

I also have read some bad reviews, but didn't change our ADR because we really wanted to see Cinderella and Prince Charming. I'm glad we went and would recommend this dinner. We had a great time.:goodvibes

We have an ADR booked for our arrival on Good Friday. Looking forward to character interaction. I've read that the step family is a riot. Hopefully the food will be decent too since we most likely will be quite hungry after traveling there all day long.

What a wonderful time and it's great to hear the food was very good.

Question: we are taking our 5 girls (10-15) there for New Years Eve and they want to get dressed up and wear tiaras like they are additional princesses. I understand that young girls get dressed up, but our girls don't want to miss out on that fun. What do you think? ( My husband treats them all like princesses anyway.)

We were there for dinner on 11/3. They had the strawberry soup.

The characters were great and made it worth it.

I thought the food was not great, but not the worst thing ever. To me, it seemed they were trying too hard and it just didn't work. To me, there was a big lack of side dishes. I would have like to seen more basic potatoes or pasta or veggies.

On a positive note - The desserts were great.

Thanks!! It is our first Poly stay! I booked 1900 b/c my dd was going to the BBB at the MK right before dinner, and she was supposed to be wearing her Cindy dress to dinner after the BBB,
Well, now she wants the "popstar" (Thanks Hannah Montana.. :lmao: ) hairdo, and doesn't want to bring her dress (which i am all for really -- less room to take up in my suitcase!) and i made her a tshirt, with a decal on it thanks to some great DIS'ers here with the designs board.

Is it a buffet meal? For me at least it seems easier for everyone in your group to have a better chance of finding something to eat on a buffet.

If we decide to do the dining plan, thinking about doing dinner here instead of Breakfast at CRT, since 1900 only requires 1 TS credit.

Jam's Mom

My girls dressed in regular dresses for this dinner, however they would have dressed in princess dresses. They did dress as Aurora and Jasmine for the princess storybook breakfast at EPCOT. There were girls there dressed as princesses and if your girls want to they should!! Have a great time!!

Here are some pics from our dinner, one with Cinderella and one with one of the step-sisters (I'm not sure which one).

We eat one dinner at 1900 on every family trip. We haven't been there since the recent rehab, but we have an ADR in January.

We have seen girls dressed in princess costumes every time we eat there. I think it would be a blast if all your girls did the princess dress-up! Even the teenagers! My DD is almost 13 and generally past the age of dress-up, but I know she would do this if she were with friends, sisters, cousins, doing it as a group. What a great family photo this could be!

We ate there on November 10th for dinner. We thought it was great! I had read so much negative info about this but as another poster said, they wanted to see Cinderella and all her friends.

I'm glad we did not listen and keep this ADR. We thought the food was one of the better dinner buffets we ate at while we were there. They had alot to choose from. They had different stations from different areas of the world. There was an Italian section, a carving section with prime rib and pork roast, a pretty good size salad bar with the strawberry soup. They had 3 kinds of soup and lots of different breads as a side. They had an awesome desert section, we barley had room for. The kids had a good selection too. The service was great and the characters were a blast. One of the stepsisters danced with my son becuase we were celebrating his birthday that night, it was a riot! The evil stepmother was a great actress and had a witty sense of humor.

I would reccommend this one highly, not to miss!

Red hair--it should be Anastasia. Druzilla (forgive my spellings) has dark hair.
Regarding the food, I think most of the complaints were during its rehab and it was pre-plated family-style meal.

The two girls are so cute and their smiles just couldn't be bigger! That's the look I want to see on my girls' faces when they are there. Thanks for the encouragement to let me older girls dress up along with the younger girls. Since there are 5 of them, they will enjoy themselves together and Prince Charming will have more than a few photoshots.

It's so wonderful to hear good reviews about the food too. Thanks again!

MinnieCandi,
What did you think of the food?

All four of us thought the food was very good. The girls loved the Strawberry Soup. My DH agreed that it was a really good buffet. It was typical buffet fare, but everything we ate, we enjoyed. The prime rib roast was really good and the salads were very fresh. The service was good also, our drinks we refilled multiple times throughout the meal. The desserts were fantastic...so make sure you save some room!;)
