Hi,

I have booked 1900 Park Fare for my Wedding Reception meal this year, I was wondering if anyone could tell me how 'loud' it is as some of the wedding party are shy and i don't want them to feel too intimidated.

Also is this a good location for a wedding meal?

Thanks

It depends on what kind of mood you are looking for. If you want quiet intimate family thing..this place is not for you.It is a very loud restaurant with lots of kids and families running around.

I agree 100% This place is so loud you cannot hear yourself think and it is a buffet so you have to keep getting up and down with wedding attire on...not easy

We ate there last year for our "reception". It was just the two of us that went down there to get married and I changed out of my dress because it was sooooo hot that day, but did keep my hair up. We went before the refurbishment, but I have been there since then. It was different before. I think it is louder since then. I know that you still would have a good time as the food is great, the characters are fun, and it's your wedding! Hello!?! :goodvibes

Wouldn't advise . If you are looking for a quiet elegance, this is definately not for you. Kids are running around, under the table, standing on chairs etc. A couple of tables over a kid threw up etc. And this was a first seating in the end of January, what is considered a slow time.

If you had a large party, I really don't think that you would be able to hear each other.

I would say no too. The only time we ate at 1900 Park Fare, it was loud, full of kids and characters, and the food was a HUGE disappointment. I would have hated to have that for my wedding meal and be that disappointed in the food. I would go for Grand Floridian Cafe if you want simple, good food and quiet.

Hulagirl87 would you think it's too noisy for 9 people?

Do they play jokes on your party? I have a reservation for 17.30 which is as soon as they open. Is this the quietest time?

I'm having a few doubts about it.

Thanks

It all depends on what you want. 1900 PF is pretty loud and busy. We got married 5 years ago in WDW and had our wedding reception dinner at Portabello Yacht Club. We had 18 guests, everyone loved it (or so they say). Food and service were awesome, they gave us an out of the way table.

It's so nice to read that others got married in the same way...averting the "chicken dance" wedding reception. DW and I just didn't want to have the wedding reception with dj, dancing, bouquet toss etc. We don't like a lot of attention and preferred something a little more low-key and less circumstance.

No they don't.Characters do "play "with the guests.530pm is a good time, but it is seriously still loud with kids.many families do take advantage of earlier dining times with small children.I didn't think the food was anything wonderful either.Ok, but not phenomenal.

It is loud and it is chaotic because it's a buffet so people are constantly getting up and down and then add in the characters and it makes it fun but a little hectic.

I would not recommend it for a Wedding Dinner with 9 people you will not be able to hear each other. I also agree with the previous person that said the food isn't all that great.

Can i ask what the meal was like at Portabello Yacht club, did they do anything special to your table / service and did you wear your dress?

If i was to change reception meals it would proberely be to the Portabello Yacht club?

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative venue for the meal. I want it to be special with really good food

Thanks

We went there for our wedding meal this past january and we had a blast. We were a very small party (only three of us). We were seated in a corner table and DH brought the plate to me so that I didn't have to get up and try to manuver the buffet in my wedding dress (I had broken the bustle string earlier in the day). THe characters spent a lot of one on one time with us, we were asked to get up and dance while prince charming and cinderella danced.

However, it is noisy, so be prepared for that. The characters are very 'in character' remember, the step sisters want a husband, so they are going to play up the fact that you just go married. They will bring a lot of attention to your table!

There are several great restaurants where I think a weding dinner would be fabulous. SOme of my choices would be

Artist Point
California Grill
Portobella Yacht Club

I wouldn't do it...not for a wedding meal. I don't think it is special enough.

Another thing I wasn't crazy about - the place has no windows.

My vote is also for something else. You might spend a little more say at Narcoossee's or Yachtsman's Steakhouse but IMO it's a much better meal and definitely more intimate for your party.

Might I suggest that you maybe do your rehearsal/informal dinner there the night before the wedding?

Like I said, I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. We're seriously considering a 15 yr vow renewal there in a few years and if we do we will do a small intimate affair at one of the nicer restaurants or just a very small reception depending on how many people we invite.

We planned our wedding meal through the restaurant. Basically they let us choose two appetizers (off their menu), two dinners (off their menu), individual salad plates, and shared desserts. They printed up nice little menus for everyone on their plate. They worked with us to add as little or as much as we wanted to it. They gave us a table out of the way and we had a little bit of individual attention from our servers. My wife did wear her wedding dress to dinner and I was still in my tux. We went back to our kresort after dinner, changed out (DW wore a casual white tank/skirt after dinner) and we went out to PI for the night. We did add some extras (sangria, wine, drinks, cappucinos) but still thought the whole thing was very reasonable. I would highly recommend going there! :thumbsup2

how much are you looking to spend? check out the various menus... citricos or narcooses at the grand floridian are great... the grand floridian cafe might be a good choice...

Something else I wanted to add, you need to think about what kind of experience you want... do you want something quiet and intimate, or do you want something fun and different?

Also, do you enjoy character meals, or do they make you uncomfortable? I know that I wanted characters for the wedding reception, but at the price of $800 each for UP TO 30 minutes, that wasn't going to happen. But by going to 1900 park fare, I was able to have 5 characters who spent as much time at our table as we wished for the price of 3 dinners.

We had our Rehersal / Welcome Breakfast at 1900 Park Fare.
We got Married @ WP and had a reception @ LS

There was 40 of us there for Brunch @ 1130
the restaurant Manager at the time was not accomedating and originally had us spread out among the restaurant when we had booked this almost a year out thru our Wedding Planner. She basically told us if we didnt like it we could go somewhere else. I probly would have but it was prepaid when our wedding was paid oh and the pre payment included tip too.

Eventually we were in the same are and after much insisting the agreed to put 3 tables of 4 together so we could have 3 groupings. Mary Poppins even asked us if we didnt like eachother since we were so seperated and the restaurant was pretty empty aside from us. (I was really upset things werent arranged as promised I did manage to talk to the Food and Beverage Mgr @ the GF and explaind what happened he was very apologietic and I believe she was demoted or fired because it wasnt the first time she was unhelpful. Imagine telling a party of 40 to go somewhere else....Anyways the Food and Beverage Manager arranged a free dinner for me and my DH on the last night of our Honeymoon at Narcooses during wishes to make up for it)

Aside from the problems with seating we had a blast eveyone enjoyed the breakfast and characters everyone still talks about it today. We had to get up to mingle with one another but it was still tonnes of fun.

Were looking to spend around $300 for the 9 of us. I'm not sure what i was looking maybe a meal thats different but not with lots of screaming kids around. I think thats my main concern with the 1900 Park Fare. I like the idea of having breakfast there.

Maybe i could have the best of both worlds and do breakfast or a dinner the day before and then do Portabello Yacht club for the wedding.

Does anyone know if and when Portabella Yacht club with change hands?
