We just returned from an 11 day trip. We have been fans of 1900 Park Faire for many years. Breakfast and Dinner have always been great!!! We had a reservation for one night last week and the new changes were awful. I have never asked to talk to a manager concerning anything dinning at Disney. This night for us was AWFUL, and we come from a family of Chefs who like the different explosion of flavors that come with a mix of foods. First the new set up was not practical. People were having to wait to get the food replenished on the plate once the chefs put a new portion up. Each bowl only held about 2 cups worth of food, so when two people before you went through and got their portion, you had to wait for more food to be put on the platter to serve. The food was very poor. The beef stir fry was cold, and you could not cut the meat. The flavor was not pleasing at all to the taste buds. The kids Macaroni and the macaroni in the adult dishes was cooked so much that when it touched your tongue it dissolved. I have never seen so many kids spitting out their mac and cheese before. I could go on and. We had two plates of food so we could try everything. There was only one bite taken out of each item of food it was so bad. We continued to try everything so we could find something we liked and never did. Our daughter would not even eat anything, then asked to leave.
We asked to see the mangaer and explained to her that we are usually big fans of the restaruant but the food was not good. We were trying to tell her what all the problems were just so they could be aware and try to improve it. The tables around us all agreed and tried to say the same thing. WE even asked if they sample the food before they put it out, and she said no. We suggested that they did. We left within the first half hour, and did not see one character. I know there were many other tables that followed us out also.
If you want to try it, go ahead. But it is not the same. Very sad day in the kingdom for us.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That sounds like a really awful meal. I was thinking of trying this dinner in January because of the new character changes but it sounds pretty scary! :scared1:

Oh no, I'm was so sorry to read about your experience. 1900 Park Fare was a highlight of our trip last Oct. We loved the food! Why would they change around the whole menu? We really were excited about going back next year and meeting the Stepmother and Wicked Stepsisters. Hopefully they'll listen to their guests complaints and suggestions and improve their menu soon. :sad2:

I also have to chime in and say we were not impressed with the new 1900 Park Faire. We had ADR's for breakfast last week during our visit(10/07). I couldn't believe the lack of choices offered at breakfast. I knew to expect the standard breakfast fare, but thats exactly what it was, only standard stuff. Scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages, Mickey waffles, fruit, an assortment of sweets and one saving grace an awsome bread pudding. There was an omlette station, but of course difficult to navigate. I guess I'm just more use to seeing a lot more variety on the Disney character buffets. Last year at Cape May we were far more impressed. I know there must be a lot of wasted food, so maybe they are trying to be more practical, but I really was looking forward to those cheese blintz darn it. LOL.

I just made ressies for our Jan. trip and thought it sounded fun!!! But now I am scared!!! I was trying to try something new-instead of Chef Mickey's for the 4th time.

We just got back on Saturday. We ate at Park Fare on Friday evening (10/12). It was probably the 2nd best meal of our trip! The food was good and hot. We never had to wait for more food to be put out. My kids loved the pasta and marinara sauce on the kids buffet. The character interaction was the BEST!

I've read many times about bad food at a restaurant and loved it myself. I think it's worth the try. I would go again in a heartbeat!

Just my 2 cents.

Nice to hear a good review for a change. We will be at the WL in three weeks, and have ressies for dinner and then breakfast the next morning, and I was getting concerned. I read one other recent review that also said the food was good. The bad still outway the good, but that is generally the case. Guess I will wait and see. Too late to really change to go elsewhere anyway.

BTW - did they have peel -n- eat shrimp at dinner?

Thanks

Ed

It has typically been a highlight of all of our trips. It is sad for us that it is so much different. Why did they have to change a good thing? There were so many positives going for it before the redo. I want to say that we do not usually say anything negative about restaurnts. I do realize that there could be off nights for any restaurant, but there were just to many for this one night. It is a shame that the breakfast was a dissapointment also. I am glad that we did not take the offer for free breakfast there for all of us. I hope that Disney will listen to their guests and try to make any of the negatives into a positive.
We will stick with our other favorites. Crystal Palace, Ohana please dont change.

I hope you all have a great evening.

We were there the same night. Our ressie was for 5:00. Maybe we just have differnt tastes. I am glad that you enjoyed your time. It was just not pleasing for us. I do know that when we checked in the lady said that they had more cancellations now that they have ever had. Our original time was for 6:30. We had some in our group not able to make it so they gave us a table for 3 at 5:00. They were very accomidating to us to allow us to go early

when we went last summer i was not influenced one bit at this restraunt...there were no selections to chose from....and the bill was 480.00 for 6 adults 3 children for not much food to chose at the dinner buffet....we said we would skip this one next vacations....

This is making me think I need to change our ADR to Crystal palace or somewhere else. I was looking forward to this too. Did they still have the strawberry soup?

I have ADR for this restaurant too - I went many years ago and it was good - used to get consistently good reviews... now I'm worried. The only reason for me to keep it is so dd can see Cinderella.. but I really don't want bad food. Dh likes good food as well.

Anyone else been recently????

Sorry to hear you had a bad meal there. We had a great meal there on 10/6 just about 2 weeks ago. I thought the food was really good and it's on the list for next trip. It was my DH best meal of the trip and my second best. The food & desserts were all great. No dry Macaroni and my DS3 is picky as could be and so is my DH for that matter. Maybe you had and off night. DD7 liked the old Cinderella dinner better with the mice and Fairy Godmother. It now has Cinderella, Lady Tremaine, Evil Stepsisters (Drizella & Anastasia) and Prince charming. The service was just alright but better than most buffets.

Crystal palace has always been a favorite of ours. We ate there three times this last trip. It was good as always. I highly reccomend it. Maybe 1900 would work for you, but I dont know.
I will say this. In the city where I live, one of the Chefs from there has left and is opening a restaurant here. To many changes in the area as a whole have been affecting many people.
The Dining Plan is great, but I have noticed a little difference over the years in the food. Most has stayed good, but there still is a differene.

Yes, Park Fare still has the Strawberry soup. I didn't care for it, but it was there. As I stated earlier, our meal was wonderful. It was the perfect way to end our vacation. It's definitely on our list to do again!

I was just calling to make an ADR for Park Fare when I saw this thread...If you are paying that much for a meal it should be at least decent. Thanks for the review.

Well, I decided to change our ADR to Kona Cafe which I really wanted to try anyway. We'll find Cinderella at the parks! :thumbsup2
